Maddie's head was reeling, unsure of what exactly had just happened. One minute, James was here and the next he had grabbed his girlfriend's hand and stalked out of the tea shop. She glanced at her redheaded friend sitting next to her who looked tense and uncomfortable. Maddie realized she had been right in assuming that Eden had no idea about this new girlfriend of James'. Eden had a right to be upset, weren't the two of them supposed to be best friends? This whole situation was so confusing to Maddie but she was sure of one thing now - Eden and James both had underlying feelings for each other that neither of them were willing to admit they had.
She was grateful when Logan broke the awkward silence that had surrounded the group of four, asking Eden a question and Maddie gave him a small smile in thanks as Eden answered, striking up a small but much needed conversation. She looked across the table at Jason, knowing he must have been fuming. He clearly wasn't comfortable in this situation in the first place, then with James showing up must have made it even worse. Maddie didn't care much for him but she still felt a stab of sympathy for the Ravenclaw.
Their meal came shortly after that and it actually smelled delicious and Maddie ate her grilled cheese in silence, glancing nervously around the table at her companions. Maybe this wasn't the best idea, she most likely had just made even more trouble for Eden in her relationship with both Jason and James when all she really wanted to do was help her out. "I don't know about the rest of you all, but I could really go for some chocolate frogs after this. They're practically calling my name," she offered a smile to Eden and hoped her friend would forgive her for this planning this disastrous trip.
