STUDENT APPLICATION
NAME : Rosalee Astoria Nott
AGE : 14
BIRTHDAY : January 28th, 2007
ORIENTATION :Straight
RELATIONSHIP STATUS : Single
BLOOD STATUS : Pureblood
What color are their eyes, hair, and skin? : Golden blonde hair, the very mirror image of her mother when she was young. Though her blue eyes are piercingly beautiful, unlike the warmth that comes from her brother's matching eyes, hers are often considered very cold. While she inherited her mother's beauty and grace, she uses it as a barrier to conceal the intellect that she claims to have gained from her father.
How do they dress? : Despite no longer being the richest of the pureblood families, Rosalee works with what she is given to appear as well put together as she can, often favoring her House robes and school uniform over other clothing - Muggle or Wizard - as the uniform does not show her family's financial status.
Do they like the way they look? : A part of Rosalee appreciates her beauty, knowing that it can come in handy as a useful tool especially when it comes to intimidation. She's grown up watching her mother flaunt her beauty in the many attempts to gain her father's affections, though it hasn't helped in the slightest. Rosalee knows that beauty is not lasting therefore she refuses to rely on her own, other that to use it as a shield to protect her from those who would otherwise deem her shallow and superficial and therefore non-threatening.
Height? : 5'6"
Do they resemble any family member? : She is compared often to her mother when Daphne was younger and still in Hogwarts, something that secretly bothers Rosalee as she has little respect for her mother. She believes that her father's lack of attention toward her and her siblings is a result of their resemblance to Daphne, something she quietly holds against both of her parents.
What is their best physical feature? : Many say it's her eyes because they are very bright and draw people in, but as they are often considered cold, Rosalee favors her long, golden hair as well as the perfected smile she adapted after copying her aunt Astoria for so many years.
What is their most flawed physical feature? : Her fingers are often ink-stained, thus revealing her secret studios nature.
Where are they from? : England.
Describe their past history : Second born to Theodore Nott and Daphne Greengrass and first born daughter, Rosalee grew up knowing little of her father's side of the family as her paternal Grandfather was sent away to Azkaban before she was born and her elder brother Isaac educated both of his sisters early in age that broaching the subject of their paternal bloodlines was not something their father would tolerate well. Her parents marriage was one of convenience, something that Rosalee assumes will happen for her as well despite the many changes that have taken place in their culture over the decades since the end of the Second Wizarding World. She has seen first hand the temperamental, dramatic and sometimes even violent relationship her parents display, and absorbs each moment so that she can avoid problems like that in her own future relationships.
Once a very emotional girl who relied on her older brother for every comfort, Rosalee turned cold and harsher as she grew once Isaac went to Hogwarts leaving her alone with her younger sister and parents. Determined not to become her mother, trapped in a marriage with a man who doesn't even physically desire her. To try and overcome the distance between herself and her father due to what she believes is her resemblance to her mother, Rosalee put a great deal of focus on her studies, trying to prove herself worthy of her father in every way possible - often at the expense of a relationship with her mother.
Rosalee grew to trust very few people in life, her brother Isaac being one of them and her cousin Scorpius another. Despite how very different the Malfoy family was to her own, Rosalee positively adores her aunt Astoria and uncle Draco, and as a young child often verbally proclaimed that she'd rather be a Malfoy than a Nott, ultimately angering both of her parents.
Who are their parents : Theodore Nott and Daphne (Greengrass) Nott
Do they have any siblings? : An older brother Isaac and a younger sister Posy.
Is their any history of mental illness in their family? : Very possibly.
-PERSONAL INFORMATION-
What do they love? : Attention. While her brother and cousin poorly chosen to enter Ravelclaw House under the guise that knowledge was power, this allowing serpents to enter the eagle's nest, while Rosalee is not so secretive about her House pride despite the reputation that can come with it. She wears the green and silver proudly, though cares little for the common rumors attached to her noble House in regards to Muggles and Muggle-borns. Rosalee loves the spotlight, but only if it's properly earned. She loves her parents, but also hates them at the same time as most teenage girls are prone to do. She has a deep affection for her brother - despite their feuding - as well as her cousin Scorpius and her younger sister, all of whom Rosalee is violently protective over.
What do they hate? : Assumptions. Rosalee is not one to forget any encounter, especially those who gather their first impression of her as superficial due to her beauty, evil due to her name and associations, or prejudiced due to her House. She also cannot stand ignorance.
Have they ever loved anyone in a romantic way? : When she was eight years old she firmly informed her family that she planned on marrying her uncle Draco. When her aunt Astoria had to explain why that couldn't work, Rosalee offered to trade him for Scorpius which only opened a whole new set of problems. Rosalee has not since developed romantic feelings for anyone, as she doesn't trust that they would be genuinely reciprocated.
What's their most traumatic memory? : The first fight her parents got into after Isaac left for Hogwarts. Since the fight took place shortly after her brother's first letter home, Rosalee assumed her parents were fighting over the fact that Isaac had been placed in Ravenclaw instead of Slytherin, thus permanently making her decide to strive for her family's traditional House. Unfortunately the fight had nothing to do with Isaac or Hogwarts, and Rosalee spent the night trying to (unsuccessfully) cast a Silencing Charm on her bedroom door with her mother's stolen wand, so that she and Posy didn't have to hear their parents screaming.
What's their happiest memory? : Being Sorted into Slytherin and receiving letters of congratulations from both of her parents as well as her aunt and uncle, despite Astoria formerly of Ravenclaw House. It was the first time Rosalee noted that her entire family agreed on something, and it was her achievement.
Describe their personality : Ambitious and cunning down to her last ounce of magic, Rosalee is resourceful and finds use for everything and everyone, including Muggles and those decades ago her family and House might consider unworthy. She is fiercely protective of her family and friends, and unlike her brother who is prone to violent outbursts, Rosalee allows her enemies to sit and think they are safe before striking. Her seemingly quiet and cold nature make her appear snobbish like her mother, but those who know her best know that she is abundantly affectionate and severely loyal and loving, if given the proper opportunity. Though she is extremely bright and determined, she has a secret love of flying, though she's not the best at it - something that greatly bothers her.
Describe their personality flaws : Slow to forgive and often too dependent on those she trusts. She often relies on the knowledge of others, though she questions everything always looking for reasons and references, never taking an, 'Because I said so' as truth.
What would a stranger's first impression of them be? : Ravenclaws think she's a snob, Hufflepuffs find her frightening, Gryffindors think she's an ice cold bitch, though most of her fellow Slytherins think she's amusing at her best, and cruel at her worst. Adults find her to be polite yet elusive.
How would you, the writer, describe them? : Desperately broken and untrusting with her heart and her life. She is heavily damaged by her parents lack of love and affection (both with her and with one another) and she is incredibly reliant on the rest of her family to the point of weakness, though she's much too proud to admit it. A part of her is very dark and despite her indifference to Muggles and Muggle-borns, Rosalee thinks that life must have been better prior to the end of the Second Wizarding War, as those are the only happy memories her parents ever seem to talk about.
Any special magical abilities? : No.
Any special skills? : She is quite adept at Charms, and pretends to be good at Potions when in reality she struggles a great deal, always having assumed it would come naturally due to her father's natural ability with it. She greatly prefers Defense Against the Dark Arts, and enjoys dueling as is often underestimated due to her small frame and gender.
Writer's Name: Jia
Roleplaying Sample:
Rosalee stormed into the Slytherin Common Room, her blue eyes looking almost silver in the low lights of the reflection from the large window that looked out into the Black Lake. She moved with strength and speed and her golden hair flowed behind her as though she were fighting her way through a storm, a roll of parchment clutched tightly in her hand, the paper the only thing preventing her nails from cutting into her flesh. She ignored the curious voices of her House mates as she moved into her dorm room, throwing her Potions essay on her bed violently, doing her best not to focus on the many ways it was possible to disembowel Professor Slughorn who had the audacity to suggest she seek tutoring. As the deafening drum of her blood pumping through her veins eased, she could hear her roommate casually ask whether or not Rosalee had asked her brother Isaac if he were interested in dating a Slytherin - a subject that had been coming up more and more as Isaac and Scorpius grew into more and more popularity. It was tiresome and vexing that idiot girls assumed they had an automatic way in to dating either of the blonde boys by simply being acquainted with their sister or cousin.
"I believe I was polite the last time I refused your romantic advances toward my brother," Rosalee turned slowly, her cold blue eyes staring into those of the black-haired. "But if you're not perceptive enough to grasp the simplest form of dejection, allow me to make it perfectly clear to you," she slowly stepped toward the girl in a threatening manner. "If my brother were to take a poorly bred, simple-minded witch like you to bed, I would drown my resulting nieces and nephews but not before burning off the hideous split ends that they would surely inherit from their mother!"
She supposed she should have felt guilty, when the tears came pouring down the girls face, but all she could think of was how grateful she would be to not have to eat at the family dinner table next to the slag.
