Liam Wilmot Blackwell
"I desire the things which will destroy me in the end."
- 24 - January 27, 1997 - Straight - Single - Pureblood
Unspeakable - Death Chamber
Wand: Hornbeam and Phoenix Feather, 11 inches
Wand Wood Description: "Hornbeam a talented witch or wizard with a single, pure passion, which some might call obsession or more kindly put an aspiration. Hornbeam wands adapt quickly and will become so personalized, so quickly, that other people will find them extremely difficult to use even for the most basic of spells. Hornbeam wands absorb their owner’s code of honor and moral compass and will refuse to perform acts - whether for good or ill - that do not equate with their master’s principles. “A particularly fine-tuned and sentient wand."
Appearance: Blue eyes that almost seem to change back and forth from dark to light depending on if he’s outdoors or not. Brown hair that’s short around the sides and a bit longer on top, showing off his somewhat unruly curls and light skin. He stands at a solid 6'2 and is pretty lean and not overly muscular. He likes to be comfortable when he dresses, wearing t-shirts and jeans but he also enjoys getting dressed up, wearing suits and ties as well. He mostly looks like his father with his height, build and inherited most of his facial features, including his nose and shape of his face but Liam has his mother’s blue eyes.
Personality: Liam is stubborn and his face is usually unchanging, looking stern and rigid. He’s brave and willing to do anything to defend his beliefs. He is very independent and has learned to adapt on his own throughout his life because of his father’s neglectfulness – Liam was forced to grow up at a young age in order to teach himself how to live without his father. He doesn’t depend on anyone and keeps himself closed off from most people because of his inability to trust them. Liam doesn’t do well with jokes, especially when they’re aimed at him and would much rather be serious all the time. He focuses on his job and that’s all. He’s not very playful although he is extremely flirty when it comes to wooing girls into his bed. If he’s not at work at the Ministry, he’s at the bar, picking up the first girl who’ll agree to going home with him for the night.
What He/She Loves: Women, living on his own away from his father, anything pumpkin flavored
What He/She Hates: Being told what to do, people who don’t do their jobs, immaturity, unnecessary cruelty, being a pureblood
History: Liam was born to Gareth and Edith Blackwell and raised on the old Pureblood beliefs. Gareth was a former Death Eater and Liam was only a year old when the Battle of Hogwarts took place. His father was put on trial after the war but was found not guilty for having been a follower of the Dark Lord and was able to return home but lost his job at the Ministry as the Head of the Department of Accidents and Catastrophes. His mother, Edith stayed at home with him while his father was away at work until he was fired.
Edith was a loving mother and Liam adored her. She was so sweet and caring, never criticizing Liam like his father did. It was often that Gareth would make Liam cry as a child with his harsh words and Edith would hold him and rock him in her arms as he cried. Liam loved his mother more than anybody else in the world. When he was six, she became ill and there was nothing anybody could do to help her. She died, leaving Liam heartbroken and without a mother.
Gareth was cruel and demanding towards Liam, trying to force his Pureblood beliefs on him but Liam could never find the will to go along with them. He didn’t think that muggles were inferior and he didn’t see what the difference in blood was. To Liam, they were all the same. This made Gareth angry and resentful towards Liam, often resulting in cruel punishments. Liam grew up to hate his father and when he finally went away to Hogwarts, he was grateful to get away from him.
After finishing school, Liam went to work at the Ministry of Magic, easily getting a job because of his father’s name. But when he was offered a job as an Obliviator, he eagerly declined, not wanting to be any more like Gareth than he already was. Instead, he became an Unspeakable, working in the Death Chamber. This gave his father even more reason to despise him.
