Wand Wood Description: Difficult to match with a wizard and generally refused to produce magic for anyone but their owners but seemed to withhold their full power from all but the most gifted wizards. Ollivander only kept a small supply of Acacia wands in his shop. Owners of Acacia wands were generally subtle wizards, as wands made from this wood were generally unsuitable for flamboyant magic.


Appearance: Nick has hair a sandy blonde color which is often times mistaken for a light brown. His eyes are a hazel color with flecks of green in them. Like his sister, his skin isn't pale or tan. He's well built and stands at 6'3

Personality: Nick is rather brooding. He's a pessimist rather than an optimist. He appears to most people as rather cold and cynical. He's intelligent enough, though not top of his class. When he was young, he had big dreams. After his parents died, he forgot about them for the most part. His eagerness to work and be remembered still remains, buried by his grief. Nick is a loner. He doesn't make friends quickly or easily and chooses to remain out of situations that may cause that. He isn't very good at coping with his emotions, instead devoting his energy to illegal activities. He's surprisingly sensitive. He allows other's words to easily influence his representation of himself.

History: Nikolaus Scott was born in the United States. While his father, Andrew Callaghan, had been visiting the country from Scotland, he'd met a pretty young, muggle model named Genevieve. The two were only 19. They had what could only be described as a summer romance after both spent several months living on one of Florida's beaches. Andrew was working for his father's business at the time and had to return home in the fall, but he never stopped thinking of Genevieve, whom he'd taken to calling Viv. While the two should have moved on, they attempted to make a long distance relationship work. It quickly crumbled and both were left loving somebody they couldn't have.

It was several years before the two crossed paths again. Andrew had only just recently gained success in a popular clothing store he'd helped his friend, Amanda Whitney, to start. He was in charge of the business portion while Amanda designed clothes and organized promotions. She was in search of models to participate in a photoshoot. It was pure chance that led Genevieve to the shoot, though some might call it fate. Genevieve, who had moved to London with a friend of hers in hopes of gaining more modeling jobs. It was her friend who was supposed to be a part of the photoshoot for 'Brilliant'. When she had to rush back to the States upon hearing about her grandfather's death, Genevieve was recommended to fill her position. Some may call it fate that Andrew had to stop by the shoot to discuss something with Amanda.

Their reunion was hardly perfect though. It was about a year before the two finally got past the bit of awkwardness that had taken over their newfound friendship. Amanda and Genevieve had grown rather close and Genevieve had even began designing clothes for 'Brilliant'. Genevieve soon decided her adventures in the UK were coming to a close and that she had to return home, where her mother was becoming increasingly ill. Amanda, who couldn't bear to part from her designing partner, decided that it would be the perfect time to expand 'Brilliant' to the United States. Genevieve and Amanda moved, Andrew tagging along to help set up the new stores. It wasn't until after Genevieve's mother had died that the two managed to reconnect. When Andrew found Genevieve crying after just learning that her mother was truly gone, he comforted her. Something changed in their struggling relationship that day. Several months of friendship later, the two began to date again. Two years of a steady relationship later, Andrew proposed. They got married in October with Amanda as the maid of honor and best "man". By February they had learned Genevieve was two months pregnant. The pair was ecstatic when they learned they were expecting twins.

Their childrens' births was a rare occurance. Nikolaus Scott was born August 31 just two minutes before midnight. After another 20 minutes, on September 1, Nicole Amber was born. The family of four spent four years living in New York City, where 'Brilliant' had set up their headquarters. They had what seemed like a perfect life there. They lived in a beautiful, large apartment with a well-known model and fashion designer and rich business man. Amanda was like a second mother to the twins. It was with a heavy heart that after a rough experience with paparazzi while out, Genevieve and Andrew decided to move their family back to Scotland. Genevieve, though she continued to send designs to Amanda, quit modeling to become a housewife and mum. Andrew continued heading 'Brilliant'. As Genevieve became increasingly frustrated with Andrew's refusal to spend more time at home, their marriage began to struggle, though they hid it from their young children. Mean while, Nick and Nicole (who had taken to calling herself Nikki), grew up happy and oblivious to their parents relationship problems.

When the twins were old enough, Genevieve decided to enroll them in muggle primary school. It was here that Nikki's dyslexia came to light. While Nick sped through reading, she found herself struggling with it. Nick tried to help his sister, but on the inside he was rather pleased at being completely better at her in something.

When he turned eleven on August 31, Nick got his letter to Hogwarts. Their parents had already contacted Hogwarts, where Andrew had attended school, to explain the twins' situation. Nick, being born on the final day of acceptance, was allowed to attend. Nikki, being born on September 1, was not. The day after turning eleven, Nikki's birthday, Nick left for Hogwarts. The two, who were inseparable, were apart for the first time. Nikki was left with a jealous rage at being born a mere twenty-two minutes after her brother yet not being able to start school at the same time as him, though they'd been in the same year during muggle primary school.

Nick spent his first year at Hogwarts started out rather happy. He was sorted into Slytherin upon his arrival. He missed his sister like crazy, but at the same time he was relieved to be free of her. He didn't make friends very quickly, instead keeping to himself. He hadn't known where to begin and by the time he had adjusted to his new surroundings everybody had already grouped off.

When he returned to school the next September, a now twelve year old Nikki accompanied him. Though his sister was sorted into Gryffindor, any differences the prior year might have caused quickly faded. When the two arrived home for the Summer Holidays later that year, it became obvious their parents were no longer the same. What had once been a perfect relationship was virtually over. Though their father spent his time at their home while they were there, it became obvious that he was no longer living in it. They spent much of that summer worrying about their parents over whispered conversations in the dead of night. Their parents relationship remained that way until just after Nick had left for his sixth year. When he and Nikki got off the Hogwarts Express, Andrew had an arm around Genevieve. That was one of the best Christmases of Nikki's life, though Nick took it for granted at the time.

Just a few weeks before their children were due to return home from school, Andrew and Genevieve died in a mall shooting. The couple had been back in the States where they had another store opening. A man had opened fire during a promotional event they'd been attending in a rather nice restaurant. He'd killed not only their parents, but three other people. Two more, including Amanda, were injured before he shot himself.

The two were permitted a week to organize a double funeral, though they spent most of that time with Amanda allowing Andrew's parents to handle the rest. Amanda, fortunately, survived, though she lost one of her legs due to infection.

Nikki and Nick coped with their parents' deaths in very different ways. Nikki became more cautious. Where as she had been more open before, she pulled back. Nick did the complete opposite. He became reckless. Over the summer he began coming home drunk, getting into fist fights. On more than one occasion, Nikki had to clean up messy wounds he received. Nick began getting mixed up with the wrong kinds of people. He took to drinking. For a time, he got involved in other drugs. Fortunately, this phase didn't last long and he soon lost interest in them. Nick became violent and angry, refusing to open up to anyone including his sister. Meanwhile, Amanda had moved in with them, though she became more of a recluse. Nikki's stress began to grow, though Nick was too bottled up inside his own word to notice.
