HERMIONE JEAN (GRANGER) WEASLEY
- 42 - September 19th, 1979 - Straight - Married - Muggleborn -
Wand: Vinewood and Dragon Heartstring, 10 and 3/4 inches
Wand Wood Description: ”Vine wands are among the less common types, and their owners are nearly always those witches or wizards who seek a greater purpose, who have a vision beyond the ordinary and who frequently astound those who think they know them best.” Vine wands seem strongly attracted by personalities with hidden depth. These wands are very sensitive to sensing their owners and can emit magical effects upon the mere entrance of their master coming into a room.
Appearance: Amber-brown eyes and honey brown thick hair that is often pulled back in a messy knot. When loose, Hermione puts effort into taming her mass of hair that often has a mind of it's own. Her skin is slightly freckled and retains a pale olive tone with several scars. Most notably the word 'Mudblood' has been carved into her forearm put there by Bellatrix Lestrange during her torture at Malfoy Manor. There is also a scar across her rib cage from a curse she obtained during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, several small burn scars on her forearms obtained inside the Lestrange Vault at Gringotts, and several others received during the Battle of Hogwarts. She used to be very self conscious about her scars, especially the one on her arm, but over the years she has learned to wear it as a badge of honor. Often considered a bit frumpy by her children and nieces and nephews, Hermione thinks her clothing is sensible. She prefers robes, but often wears her Muggle clothes beneath them in case she needs to quickly slip out to Muggle areas. Though she looks a great deal like her father, she gets her coloring and hair from her mother's side of the family.
Personality: Extremely intelligent and hard working, Hermione is also honest and dislikes false humility. If she knows something that you do not, she is not afraid to voice her opinion. Incredibly organized and efficient, Hermione prides herself on her intellect and ability to be in control as much as possible, though she freely admits that sometimes she needs to unwind and be a little spontaneous. She's often considered bossy and abrasive, but always good intentioned. Loyal to a fault, there is no truer friend than Hermione, who always sticks by your side and puts your well-being first, even when it's against your wishes. Despite the prejudice she's faced (and continues to face in some circles) Hermione is surprisingly forgiving and does not view the world as black and white, but various shades of grey, though it's taken her quite a few years to reach that level of maturity.
Hermione puts on a strong face for the world and is able to relax and let her hair down (figuratively) with those she is closest with. She is strong willed and stubborn and yet forcefully wants change in the world despite struggling with change in herself. Since the end of the war, Hermione wants nothing but equality for everyone, even purebloods, which tends to cause a few arguments with some of her still biased Order friends. Hermione wants nothing more than for her children to not have to worry about blood status and House alliances.
What He/She Loves: Her family is first and foremost in her life. Hermione's loyalty to them is unwavering, though her love for books and knowledge come a close second. At the top of her list is always her children.
What He/She Hates: Hermione tries to not hate anything other than prejudice, though she would say that she has a very strong distaste for flying, and still can't properly grasp Quidditch with the enthusiasm the rest of her family shows.
History: Born to Muggle dentists in London, Hermione Jean Granger was odd from the start. Always more interested in books than dolls, she struggled to find friends growing up. Displaying signs of magic from a very early age (though it was written off as coincidences by her Muggle parents) Hermione was overjoyed and relieved when Minerva McGonagall showed up at her house during her eleventh year with her Hogwarts letter. Upon arriving at the school of Witchcraft and Wizardy, Hermione threw herself into her studies, determined to show that just because she was Muggle-born she was no less a witch. Unfortunately her lack of a previous social environment mixed with an overzealous enthusiasm for learning made her appear to be a bit of an insufferable know-it-all. Prior to an incident with a troll in a bathroom during Halloween, Hermione only considered Neville Longbottom a friend. Luckily that all changed and soon she found herself the only female in a small and very important trio.
For years she stood beside Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley, though not all of them good years. Between brewing Polyjuice Potion, saving doomed Hippogriffs, rescuing innocent godfathers, punching ferrets, fighting Death Eaters and Voldemort himself, Hermione also had to deal with two temperamental boys who often didn't see the logic in her reasoning for wanting a silly broom to be examined for curses, Firebolt or not. Then there was the whole thing about her cat.
Prior to what should have been her seventh year at Hogwarts, Hermione Obliviated her Muggle parents in order to protect them from being harmed and used against her in the war. Though she eventually was able to bring them home from Australia where they'd gone, despite restoring their memories, the relationship was never completely mended and though she is still on speaking terms with her family, it's never been like it was. After dealing with her family, Hermione, Ron and Harry went on the run to search for Voldemort's Horcruxes. During this time they struggled with many things, but no more than when they were taken by Snatchers to Malfoy Manor where Hermione was tortured.
Despite winning the war, Hermione suffered for a period of time due to the hours at Malfoy Manor but she fought to overcome it all. After winning the war alongside Harry, she and Ron began officially dating and though there were more arguments than there weren't, the couple somehow made it work eventually marrying several years later in a quiet ceremony. Hermione found work in the Ministry in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures where she made great changes for many creatures including house-elves, werewolves and centaurs. Once she became pregnant with her daughter, Hermione took time away from work, mostly because of the photographers that followed her around constantly. Her pregnancy with Hugo was only slightly better, and the moment she had the chance to return to work (without feeling as though she were neglecting her children) she took the chance, and was transferred and promoted to Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, working alongside her best friend, as well as her husband.
