Alkawari Nyukutti Darana
"Was I meant to feel happy, my life was just about to change?"
- 15 - January 17th - Bi - Single - Pureblood
Wand: Yew and Dragon Heartsting, 11 inches
Wand Wood Description: "Yew wands are among the rarer kinds, and their ideal matches are likewise unusual, and occasionally notorious.” Yew retains a particularly dark and fearsome reputation in the spheres of duelling and all curses. However, it isn’t true that those who use yew wands are more likely to be attracted to the Dark Arts than another. “The witch or wizard best suited to a yew wand might equally prove a fierce protector of others. Wands hewn from these most long-lived trees have been found in the possession of heroes quite as often as of villains.” When a wizard is buried with their yew wand, the wand sprouts into a tree guarding the dead owner’s grave. A yew wand does not choose a mediocre or a timid owner.
Appearance: Alkawari has dark aboriginal skin, dark hair, dark eyes, and is extremely tall for a girl with a thin, muscular athletic build.
Personality: Alkawari is fearless. The only thing that inhibit's her is her own drive, somtimes pushing her to take challanges that could end her. Alkawari is cold and vengeful, not because she wants to be, but because that is what she has been taught. The only one you are to be kind to is the one who breaks you, but only if they can. That is an ideal taught to the Danara children but since moving to the UK and being sorted into a house of such compassionate people she has begun to grow softer. Her background though makes it harder for Alkawari to interact properly with people which often leads to frustration.
She is happy though when using magic and while not the best at essays and writing, she is a natural dueler and competitive. She has found she enjoy's quidditch but would never play, much preferring Australia's alternate that is played by kicking a ball around into hoops while jumping from different suspended pieces of hard earth.

History: Alkawari hails from the Danara tribe who have always lived in the heart of Australia. They are a tribe of magic makers, what most refer to as witches and wizards and are one of the few native tribes not destroyed or driven from power because of this magic, but also their natural position, being surrounded by dangerous uncharted territory. Few forces proved braved enough to cross the treacherous terrain that is wild Australia in order to seize power from the Danara. Thus, the heart of Australia continues to belong to them as it always has, though they have concieded to name landmarks English names in order to keep british forces appeased and minding thier own bussiness. The Danara have a complicated lifestyle and believe themselves to be the oldest tribe in all of time. Untouched for thousands if not millions of years the Danara claim to have been born from the earth's first breath of red dust, expalining thier strange, reddish, brown pigmentation.
The Danara are a large fearsome secluded group that were evetually forced to cooperate with the British Ministry of Magic or risk invasion. Something witches and wizards could easily do compared to the muggles. Thus the Danara's chief, Nyakul, Alkawari's grandfather was made to have representation in the ministry for his people. Nyukutti, Alkawari's father was sent as representation, and his children were to stay in australia.
It was in her tribe Alkawari learned strange ancient magic not known to the white man that was neither good nor bad. It was a fair magic that required something in exchange for it's reward, often taking a part of it's magic maker's soul until a proper live sacrifice was to be made. Alkawawari was one of ten children and as the second oldest, she had to fight her brother for the right to be able to go to her father in England for proper education as their is no surperior sex in the tribe, only superior strength. Alkawari won, but at a fatal price, her brothers vision, having boiled his eyes out of his head. Little remorse was shown though as mercy is not a Danara concept.
Alkawari lived in England with her father the rest of that year learning the culture and perfecting the language. Despite living among the Europeans both father and daughter hold true to their tribe's core beliefs. Surround yourself with unsoiled magic, only take what you are willing to fight for, and let no english men controll you.
