The movement of her hand towards him wasn't slow, yet there had been time for a hundred thoughts to flash through his mind. He hadn't been sure what it was she was reaching for, and his shoulders tightened when her dainty fingers tugged on the sleeve of his shirt. Evie brushed Luke's skin, and the hairs on his arms shocked on end as static fizzed up his arm. Was this what it was like for Evie when he touched her? He doubted it, this was his own brand of torture created to frustrate him. It had been a long time since a girl had attracted him, and as Evie stroked the watch-face with her finger he found his abdomen warming uncomfortably. He moved his gaze down to his wrist, aware that looking at her may not be the most sensible idea.
"It was a gift from a Muggle man in Germany. He never wore watches but had been given this by his Father. I helped him with odd jobs over a summer to pay for him allowing me to stay, and we grew quite close. You forget sometimes that Muggles are human too, we have a lot in common, some are incredibly intelligent." Luke glanced up at her before his eyes glided passed her neck, over her shoulder, and down until resting on her slim hand. "He gave it to me before I left, and I liked it. Not just because it was from him, but because I was in Slytherin, and I was proud of that." He shrugged and shook his arm until it was hidden once more by the shirt. Thankfully, he had cooled down and could now look at her without fire burning in his stomach.
It was dark outside, and from the way the woman was shuffling about Luke assumed she was closing soon. "Why don't we go?" He suggested, "It's late and you should probably get home." He couldn't believe he was telling her that the night had to come to a close, but if they continued he wouldn't be able to ever leave the shop, he was sure of it. Luke stood and cast his attention over Evie, finding enjoyment from the sight of the witch in his jacket. It suited her more than it did him, and he was in no rush to have it back. The moment Evie moved, he walked to the door and held it open, before bidding the worker goodbye and thanking her for the drink. "It's dark so watch your step," he warned Evie as she slipped by him.
