Wand Wood Description:
Rowan wood was prized due to its reputation for protection and producing powerful, hard to break Defensive Charms. Rowan was also noted for its believed disassociation with the Dark Arts. Rowan has become associated with pure-hearted owners.
Appearance:
Lily takes after the Weasley side of the family, with flaming red hair and freckles. Her hair is mostly straight, but it does have a bit of a wave to it, a trait inherited from her father’s unruly locks. Thankfully though, it’s easily managed, if a bit frizzy at times. She likes to keep it long so she can braid it, or put on flower crowns with long flowing ribbons so she can resemble a fairy. Lily’s skin is fairly pale, burning easily, like her mother’s. Her eyes, however, she got from her father. They’re quite a startling shade of green. She also takes after her father in the way that she is much more willowy than her mother was as a child, with long legs, knobbly knees, and thinner limbs.
Lily’s style varies an incredible amount between being quite impossibly girly and a tomboy. She loves dresses and flowers and just about anything with lace and ribbons, however, she’s not afraid to get rough and tumble in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. She can usually be found sporting a combination somewhere in the middle, like a frilly dress worn over jeans and sneakers. Her favorite colors to wear are pastels and white as well as the occasional black if she’s feeling exceptionally broody or trying to be ‘cool’. She can always be found with a brown leather bracelet on her right wrist, decorated with a row of colored glass beads. Each bead came from a different part of the world, gathered and given to her by her two best mates. The ones on her bracelet are her favorite, but she has quite a collection that she’ll string into her hair occasionally.
Personality:
Lily is a kind soul, caring and compassionate for the most part. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and family, always willing to try and help them out even with things that go against her better judgment. She doesn’t usually get joy out of seeing others in pain, even if she dislikes them, though, she will sometimes think they got what was coming to them. Despite being a teenager, Lily is still very much a child at heart, though, this is because she is both a late bloomer and afraid of growing up. She has seen the worry lines etched on her adult relatives’ faces, especially her parents, and it tends to scare her a bit, especially because she vaguely knows they went through some very troubling times when they weren’t much older than she is now. She seeks comfort from this in doing the same things she did when she was younger, such as creating make-believe games where no one, except for her two best mates or brothers, can see her doing it. Her best mates as they know she’s a bit odd, and her brothers… well, she’s pretty sure they don’t mind if she stays young and undatable forever.
Lily is also at that exceptionally awkward age of coming into one’s own, just shy of puberty and yet, everyone around her seems to be experiencing it already. All of her dorm mates want to seem to talk of nothing but make-up and boys (including her beloved twins and brothers, ew) while Lily would much rather discuss things they used to, like what they would name their unicorns if they could have one as a pet. She is also quite opposed to going against the rules, not liking getting in trouble.
Lily has some anxiety issues, stemming mostly from not liking to be the center of attention or worrying that others won’t like her because she’s not growing up fast enough. She constantly worries about doing something wrong or if her parents are sleeping alright while she’s away and can’t sneak into their bed in an attempt to make them feel better. She also thinks a lot about her poor broody older brother, Albus, and whether James is going to get hurt in the next Quidditch match. She can also be quite clingy, latching onto the twins and not usually trying to make any new friends. They’re her safe place when she’s feeling overwhelmed by the world, the absolute constant in her life that has never, ever, changed for as long as they’ve been alive. Oh, and her stupid freckles.
What He/She Loves:
Playing outside, especially during the nicer months, being with her family, pranking her brothers, frolicking, making flower chains, fairies, being cuddled, super soft comfy things, her stuffed owl, her friends, star gazing, going barefoot, pretty glass beads, being the center of a Scamander sandwich, being buried in a nest of blankets and pillows like a deer in a thicket, mud, Gobstones, being read to at bedtime, shimmying her way up between her parents in their big bed in the middle of the night, and spending time at the Burrow.
What He/She Hates:
Bullies, puberty, getting picked on by her dorm mates, being behind everyone else, getting lost, having her picture taken, people saying bad things about her family, getting asked about her dad, feeling anxious, being stuck indoors, being away from her twins for too long, breaking rules, spicy food, and being alone.
History:
Lily is the third born and baby of the Potter family. Her parents kept her and her brothers pretty sheltered growing up, and she, to a point, still is quite kept as such being the youngest. So far, Lily has had an a fairly happy childhood, with lots of cousins to play with and tons of aunts and uncles and one set of grandparents who dote upon her relentlessly. So long as they stayed out of public of course. Going out school shopping has never been an easy feat, and Lily used to be left at the Burrow when she was still very small as the constant flocking of people trying to take pictures of her family was always a bit too much for her. She never quite understood it until she grew old enough to hear little snidbits about the second wizarding war that her parents had been involved with, especially her father. She only know mostly what she’s gathered from overheard conversations when she’s supposed to be sleeping or history lessons at school that don’t quite cover what her curiosity wants to know. However, she’s always been too nervous to ask her parents about it, not wanting them to have to relive any of the bad memories they might have.
Aside from worrying over her parents and if they’re going to be bombarded with photographers every single time they go out to Diagon Alley, Lily has spent most of her life doing what most little kids do. Using her imagination to make up games and fantasy worlds. She spent most of her diaper days chasing round a big backyard after the two blond Scamander twins who are only about six months older than her, and even now, they’re all three thick as thieves. She’d always miss them terribly when they were gone away on some great adventure with their parents, but they always took right back up where they’d left off when the boys returned from wherever they’d been. They would correspond by owl through pictures and later, letters. And they would always bring her back a new bead for her collection, her favorites of which are on the bracelet she never takes off. She’s one of the few people who can really tell them apart without so much as a glance.
Lily is also quite close to her brother, Albus, due to their similar ages. However, she loves her brothers equally, and though they sometimes pick on her relentlessly, she knows she can rely upon them to be there when it really counts.
