Noxie had shut her eyes by now, unable to look at him or anything around her due to the overwhelming sense of close social interaction. Her brain was in overload. She could feel the weight of her body resting in his arms, the way his chest moved as he breathed, and the pumping of his heart, sending much needed blood throughout his body. It was this last bit she tried to focus on more than anything else. The constant ba-bump, ta-thump, of his heartbeat was better than thinking about the pain in her ankle or how she was supposed to react to this situation. She tried to breathe normally, though they were faster paced, slightly panicked but not quite as bad as a full out panic attack would have been.
When Zeke apologized though, she eased a little. He felt bad? "No!" She shook her head rapidly now, her voice a bit stronger. but still not the full strength of someone speaking regularly. She didn't want him to feel bad for helping her, for carrying her. This whole time she had felt bad because she must be a burden for him and here he was saying sorry for helping her. What kind of person was he? "Don't... Don't be. Thank you." She managed to muster out, biting her lip, her eyes still squinched shut.
She tried to let herself relax, though it wasn't easy. Noxie let herself fall a little bit more into his arms, becoming a bit less rigid as he joked. She smiled a little bit. "You're very... good at it for not doing it often." She tried to joke back, not really sure if he'd take it the wrong way or not. One one hand, it could be seen as a compliment. On the other, it could have been a blow to his masculinity saying he didn't get girls that much. Of course, she meant it as the former, not the latter and didn't even think of it until after it had come out of her mouth.
