Horace sat in his cozy, well furnished office, adorned in olive, green paisley robes and clutching in his pudgy, wrinkled hand an ornate goblet of the finest elf-made wine in Scotland. He was already feeling bubbly and sociable from the alcoholic beverage, ready to begin his networking and collecting of youths with great potential in Horace's eyes. He was excited for his first supper party of the semester, being a lonely, old man at the ripe age of one-hundred and nine, this was one of the only small events in his life that he had to look forward to. While he faced his own mortality, more and more aware of his passing life with each day, in the students he saw life and just being in their presence, allowing himself to be excited for them, supportive of their bright, promising futures and hearing of their unique dreams and aspirations, well, that was really all barmy, old Horace needed to keep him going, smiling warmly each day. Just then the the first trickle of students began shuffling in over the open threshold and into the warm and inviting room, the hearth crackling with a lively fire. "Good evening! Good evening!" Horace beamed, his face lighting up in a broad grin as he quickly ushered the students in and towards a large, round table set elegantly for well over a dozen guests. An old-fashioned, cheerful tune echoed throughout the room, playing from an antique, mahogany radio from the 1930's, an occasional pop of static interrupting the jovial, jazz melody. "Come in, Come in!" Said Horace enthusiastically, patting the first lad on the back and casting the first lady a gentlemanly smile. "Have a seat, m'boy!" He offered the lad and waved over the lady, extending a chubby hand to the well dressed table beside him as he took his place smack dab in the middle, where he could be at the center of attention, directing the easy flow of impending conversation.
1st years
Damian Scamander – Because of his father being the Under Secretary to the Minister of Magic and his great grandfather being the famed Magizoologist Newton Scamander.
Jill Scarbore – Chosen for her intelligence, he sees potential in the young, sharp-minded eagle.
Aether Capricus Rotburn – Slughorn was weary of the Rotburn children, knowing of Maverick Rotburn the Death Eater currently serving time in Azkaban, he did not want to be associated with a family of dark wizards but seeing as he noticed Damian and Aether together a lot he assumed the two boys to be good mates and took a risk of inviting him, hoping to appease Damian who would then put in a good word with his father at the Ministry.
2nd years
@rosaline – Because being only in her second year, she made seeker on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, that’s highly impressive!
3rd years
Louis Weasley – Due to his intelligence, sharp mind and family name. Also Horace has found the more 'quiet, strong presence' type lads to always go far in life.
Lorcan Scamander and Lysander Scamander – He wants to collect the twins, he invited them solely for their relation to Orian Scamander.
Lily Luna Potter – Due to her quidditch skills and infamous last name, Lily reminds Horace of both her mother, Ginny Weasley and her grandmother Lily Evans, both witches were prior Slug Club members themselves!
@bri2 – Due to her quidditch skills and outgoing nature, he is sure she will go far.
4th years
Scorpius Malfoy – The young, Malfoy heir shows a drive and thirst for knowledge, outshining that of his father’s, he also invited him as a silent gesture to quell the awkwardness between Horace and his colleague, Draco Malfoy, whom he did not invite to join his club back in his days in Hogwarts, he hopes that by inviting his son this will make up for it.
Rose Weasley – Another Weasley with great potential, she’s just like her mother, Hermione in Horace’s eyes and he’s certain she’ll be just as extraordinary as the elder witch!
Albus Potter – The only Potter to be sorted to his own house, Albus Potter is Horace’s favorite, just like his father and his grandmother, Lily Evans. Albus is his newest prize!
5th years
Joeseph Scarbore – One of his snakes who he feels possesses a strong potential for greatness.
Zeke Noble – His father was an outstanding Auror and mother works for the Ministry.
Dominique Weasley – Yet another Weasley who shows outstanding intelligence and wit, he’s sure the prefect will go far in life, after all her mother Fleur was a Triwizard champion.
Eveleen Swan – A student whom shows a great deal of intelligence, plus he’s heard rumors of her being related to the Potter’s through a distant, muggle relative…
Ramona Adessi – The Gryffindor beater is spectacular out on the pitch, Horace is certain she’ll go on to play professionally and perhaps she will remember her dear, old professor and send him annual tickets to the Quidditch World Cup.
6th years
@jason – He’s a prefect, intelligent and driven, Horace is certain he will make a name for himself in the wizarding world.
Duane Davis – For his unusual knack at Herbology.
James Potter – Part of the Potter set, though he’s not sure the prankster has what it takes to aspire to greatness, he merely invited him for his infamous last lame.
Cohen Myers – The Gryffindor is very charming and a skilled socializer, he’s certain he will go on to do a great deal of networking and be very successful in anything he sets out to do. Charming people go far in life.
Holegea Sessema – A student of his own house who comes from a respected pureblood family, that paired with her sharp wit caused her to instantly stand out to Horace.
Spencer Kane – His spotless record of attendance to class and intelligence made him stand out to Horace.
Joshua Bane – A student of his own house who’s kindness to others makes him stand out against his peers as well as him being captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team.
Logan Cadwell – Another student of his own house who shows great ambition. He will surely go far.
Athena Price – Intelligence, top marks and being the Head Girl are all the things that made Horace choose Athena to join his Slug Club.
@adelais – Intelligent and charming, paired with her relation to Fleur Delacour’s younger sister, Horace sees great potential in the 1/8th veela.
