The door leading to the Dark Tower is locked tightly...

A brass hand curls over the doorknob, slapping students insistent hands and pointing them at the wooden panel hanging by the entryway.

Several papers and a tiny reminder are spelled with a sticking charm onto what is clearly the classroom's 'notice board'. The smallest scrap refreshes what students shall need for the class; quill & ink, parchment, candle, and the course book Practical Sigil Magic by the Rune Mage Frater.

The usual descriptive warnings and classroom expectancies give two full paragraphs underneath the top two sheets. Its contents ranges from what students should and should not do, how detentions are given out along with House Points, and grade passing requirements. At the last sentence, a note to speak with the Professor about furthering education in the field of Sigil work is welcomed and encouraged.

Next a list of students, grade, and House appears to the left indicating who was accepted into the elective class:

Finally at the top of the pile is a brief message written in scrawling letters written in haste to any arriving students to the Sigil class.

To all new students in Sigil Magic: The door to the Dark Tower is extremely finicky and prone to be a bit snappish. If you wish to enter class on time you must treat the hand like the 'Lady' she is. Once you enter, please wait collectively at the bottom of the stairs and I shall arrive five minutes past entry time to escort you up through the Dark Tower, if anyone arrives too late to my appearance, the Lady at the door bars you and the first detention follows. (You may sit on the bench outside till the end of class to receive punishment.)

Rose read over the notice board before glancing at the doorknob skeptically. Sure enough, a hand guarded it. She bit her lip, a habit of hers. She turned her eyes back to the board once again reading over the message. Her eyes landed on the class list. Se was the only Gryffindor, though the class was mostly composed of her year. Her cousin Lily was in the class. Her eyes drifted further down the list, hovering over Scorpius Malfoy's. Her heart sped up slightly at the thought of him and their frequent snogging sessions in broom cupboards, though she wasn't certain that was a good thing. Fortunately, Al was in it as well. She wouldn't have to worry about Scorpius.

When the new class had been announced, Rose hadn't been sure if she was going to participate. The magic certainly didn't seem like the ordinary spells that was taught throughout the school, something was incredibly intriguing about it to Rose. As a fourth year, she was in the right year for it. It could be the only opportunity she got to take something more complex. She decided to sign up after much internal debate and even a letter home to her mum. She was a little out of her comfort zone, but excited nonetheless.

She turned back to the know, offering it her hand. She wasn't quite sure what to do. How does one greet a brass hand? Had she been a male, she might have kissed it, but she wasn't. Instead, she gently shook it in greeting. The door seemed to accept this, the hand removing itself from the knob and allowing her to twist, swinging it open. She pulled her bag a little further ways up her arm, walking into the stuffy tower to wait as she had been instructed.

Ella scampered towards the Dark Tower. Electives didn't ordinarily come until 3rd year, but she'd received permission from McGonagall to take the class. She was certain it would be challenging, but she was also certain it would open her up to a new world of magic. She read over the notice board, pleased to see her friend Lily's name among the list of students, equally pleased to see that Rosalee hadn't joined the class.

Ella's eyebrows furrowed when she read over the notice about the hand, but she approached the door with confidence. If there was one thing she was good at, it was making friends. She could greet people, and apparently doorknobs, with ease. Being raised a pureblood had given her the background needed to greet finicky...hands as well. After going through the proper routine with the knob, she pulled the door open.

The bottom of the tower was dark and dusty. It didn't seem as if anybody had used it in years. There was another student already there. A fourth year Gryffindor, one of Lily's cousins. She gave her a small smile in greeting before standing a little ways away to wait for the professor.

"You don't have your book?!" Daemok hissed at her brother and the boy just shrugged his shoulder. That identical face turned to her with a grin.

"I'll just look at yours."

She snorts in annoyance as they round the corner and stop in front of the door to the Dark Tower. Of course her twin couldn't even be bothered to make sure he had the class materials when she had brought all of hers "Grandfather is going to curse you." Daemok says with a leer.

Demock sneers back at his sister. Ever since the girl fell head-over-heels for that goody-two-shoes-Gryffindork, she's been becoming a rule enforcer and he can't stand it. That Scarbore brat was a bad influence... 'But a good kisser.' Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he turns and grabs for the doorknob, when suddenly a bronze hand slapped his fingers away, "OW! Mordred's balls! What in bloody nine-gates?"

He glowers at his snickering sister who in turn reaches forward only to get slapped as well. Demock laughs at her stricken face and she bares her teeth at him in irritation.

"Just like grandfather to spell the door to keep us out before the bell rings!" She glances at the bulletin board and rolls her eyes, "Try kissing it."

Sputtering, Demock draws himself back with a cringe. "I'm not kissing that disgusting thing!"

"Well, I'm not either!

"Then I guess we'll stand here like a bunch of buffoons until someone can let us in!"

"I refuse to be late for grandfather's class!"

"This is ridiculous, someone will come along soon surely..."

The twins lean against the wall; Daemok holding her carrier bag closely looking down the right side, and Demock with his arms crossed staring down the left side. They remain silent, unspoken words and tension building between them as the time ticks by.

Andrea arrives with time to spare as she always does but pauses next to a window as she watches with interest as a pair of third years get their grimy little hands slapped at by a charmed knob. They argue a bit before leaning against the wall in waiting, presumably for someone else to open the door and for them to sneak in after. She realizes then they are the only Rotburns Andrea hasn't had the absolute pleasure of acquainting herself with yet.

Andrea rolls her eyes and struts forward, long dark hair moving behind her. She pauses in front of the door, regarding it with a raised eyebrow and taking in it's features. Delicately poised hand made of a high quality, well kept material . . .

"Good day Madame." Andrea says in her most pleasant voice to the hand, raising her own to shake it as she lowers in a curtsy. The door swings open and she pays the twins one of her signature judgmental looks before moving into the room.

"Are you two fond of dawdling or are you coming?" She asks in her prim cutting voice, not at all hesitating in order to 'wait up' for anyone. The area at the base of the tower is small and she reads the notices as she waits for the Professor to arrive. Professor Rotburn, Andrea repeats to herself mentally, Floki and Maverick's grandfather. And I suppose theirs as well, She adds thinking on the twins.

Demock blinks as if dazed and follows the sweet scent belonging to the older female inside.

Quickly, Daemok ducks after her brother as the door shuts behind them and sidles up closer while peering around. She catches the stupid 'awed' look on the twin's features and elbows him in the ribs. They glare at each other and Daemok pulls out the small handbook to the course. "Really? An older woman?"

"It's not as if you want my attentions, so make up your damned mind!" He whispers back harshly. Truthfully, he isn't interested in the Slytherin ice-queen, but he can admire beauty when he sees it. Also, there's been a familiar energy oozing from the girl lately. An energy that pulsates Rotburn and anyone from the Clan that can notice such a signature, is probably drooling all over themselves anyways. Demock glances at his sister, and sure enough his twin is staring a bit too intently at the back of the female's figure. With amusement he mocks her, "Are we having second thoughts on Scarbore now, dearest sister?"

Her head jerks to him with seething orbs, "Oh, shut up you imbeci..." She begins, but her voice looses momentum as the twin's heads snap up in alarm.

They both turn simultaneously to the door where an equally intriguing aura is approaching.

Maverick strides down the hall with his chin up and pureblood mask in place. He's preparing himself internally for the confrontation with his grandfather while going over all the mental Occumulacy he's been trying to self teach himself. Between Legillemens and Parseltongue, and all the other course's this year, he wonders if he really should have wrote his name on the ballet for Sigil Magic. His blue orbs dart to his side, where his best friend, Albus Potter matches his pace. The Slytherin peer had signed up for the elective, and when Maverick saw it, knew that he had to join to make sure his grandfather didn't try anything on the Potter male. 'That old fool tries to put hands on him I'll...'

He shakes his head to clear all the dark thoughts trickling through. Maverick knows Potter can hold his own. The silently brooding male is fairly good at switching to defense magic, most likely trained by father, Harry Potter. Again the Rotburn's orbs are drawn to those dark features and sharp cheekbones; admiring the softness around the eyes, but the stubbornness set in that jaw. A fondness for Albus swells in his chest and they continue towards the Dark Tower. 'I just want to be there to make sure.'

"How do you feel about this?" Knowing they aren't in the safety of the Dungeons, but needing to make sure Albus' resolution is firm, he asks aloud in the shadowed hall.

"Good" Albus replied to Maverick nonchalantly. Albus didn't have any qualms about the elective unlike his mate beside him who seemed on end, despite the 'pureblood' mask being in place. If there was truly any danger or darkness in the class, which Albus highly doubted, it wouldn't make sense to expose it to the 'Golden Trio's' children. Albus wasn't the only one of the Light's children who would be in attendance; His cousin Rose would be there, as well Lorcan Scamander.

The two Slytherin's came to the door that would open to the base of the dark tower and Albus stopped. His dark eyes, now sharp stared in suspicion at the strange knob, a frighteningly realistic bronze dipped hand protruded from the door and covered a knob.

"Maverick what is that?" Albus asked eyes flickering between the boy beside him and the door. Knowing his cousin's patent for promptness and stubbornness Albus was aware it was likely Rose was already in the room, but how in Godric's name had she got passed this thing. Albus reached towards the knob but at the flinch of the hand retracted immediately glaring at the appendage that had just attempted to strike him.

Lorcan arrived punctual to class as always. He didn't like to be super early, but he didn't like to be late at all either. It seemed though he might be, which the Scamander noted with a bit of apprehension when he realized there was an issue with the knob. Lorcan watched curiously as two Slytherins stood just outside the door. One asked the other what the it [the knob] was and Lorcan realized it was Albus. Lorcan relaxed slightly and approached moving to stand beside the dark haired Slytherin. Though Lorcan was far closer to Lily, Albus' little sister, Lorcan and his twin had grown up alongside the Potters, usually staying with them when the Scamanders, Rolf and Luna, went off to research creatures far to dangerous for children to be around.

Lorcan's light eyes trained on the knob before looking up to Albus beside him expectantly, the way a younger sibling would look to an older one.

Archer approached the door where several other students were clustered, not quite knowing what to do. One of them was Albus Potter. Though Archer was hardly friends with him, he respected the fact that he was a Slytherin (if not a little annoying). There were two other boys, a Ravenclaw who seemed to know Potter, and another of his housemates.

He read over the notice board quickly before impatiently turning to the trio. "Are you lot going to open this door, or shall I?" he said, rather harshly. He was in no mood for games and just wanted to start what he was sure would be an interesting class. Archer turned towards the door, not bothering to wait for their answer. He greeted the door with a gentle kiss on her hand, aware of how strange it was. Fortunately, it worked. The door swung open and Archer strutted inside.

His eyes landed on Andrea Williams, Rosalee's friend. Deciding that she was much better than the alternative of interacting with Albus Potter, he went to stand by her.
