Luke smiled because Evie smiled, and stopped when she continued eating, mirroring her without realizing it. She moved and Luke was aware of each shift of her body, and how it altered the space between them. He rotated a little so that his right knee pointed towards Evie, and could feel the instant spark that seemed to connect his body to hers, though they were nowhere near touching. As Evie spoke, Luke's eyebrows twitched together, finding that her words bothered him. "Being kind isn't a weakness Evie," he said seriously, although tried to keep his expression light. "Thinking about yourself is a lot easier than having to consider other people. Don't apologize for being selfless." He heard how it sounded, and wondered where it had come from. It was too deep and intense for what was supposed to be a quick visit. He wasn't doing a particularly good job at hiding his growing feelings, and quickly cleared his throat and ran his hand over the nape of his neck.
He turned his attention to the cat, which had edged a little closer to him. Luke focused completely on Coby, and hovered his hand out, waiting to see if it would let him stroke it. Coby eyed him curiously before shuffling closer, Luke took it as a good sign and stroked one finger down the centre of his head. "I think Coby might be starting to like me," he said, flicking his eyes up to the pretty witch for a moment. He should go, Luke knew that but it was the part he always hated. He had no clue when he would see her again, and couldn't ask as she may be off ill for a while. This meant another trip to the book store in the hopes she was there, despite the fact Nate would also be lurking. Luke caught her eyes and stroked Coby again. He really didn't want to leave.
