Jason's eyes swept over the page, though he couldn't comprehend the text. His mind was a whirring machine of stress. Jason Colt had never believed himself to be anything less than the best, yet here he was in a pit of self doubt. He was a jerk. A right arse. He hadn't realized it until she'd opened his eyes, made him realize that maybe he wasn't the best at everything.
It hadn't yet been an hour since his and Eden's break up. After returning to the Ravenclaw common room quite stunned, he'd been bombarded by his so called friends. Jason hadn't been able to take it. It was too much. He was slowly crumbling on the inside, his reality shattered by a girl he had believed to be harmless. He. Couldn't. Take. It.
Why had Eden been able to see in him what he couldn't see in himself? Suddenly everything was blurred. He couldn't pick out what compliments from his past had been genuine, and which ones had merely been to charm the son of Weston Colt. Everything was a lie. He was having a tidal wave of self doubt, something he had never experienced in all sixteen years of his life.
Jason had fled to the library, a place which usually felt welcome to him. He couldn't focus on the text in front of him. He felt like slowly pulling out his hair as he curled up and died, though no observer would have been able to tell. His thoughts were consumed with Eden, evaluating every second they'd spent together picking out each point where he'd gone wrong.
