After her last class for the day, Sophia walked to the Hufflepuff dorms to get into a pair of clean jeans and a t-shirt printed with a band name her mother used to like. She threw her robes haphazardly on her bed, along with her back pack, and rummaged through it to pull out her sixth year transfiguration text. Leaving the mess behind and taking the book with her tucked under her arm, she walked slowly so as not to draw attention to herself. She meandered through the school, taking a circuitous route, checking to make sure she wasn't being followed.
You can do this. she thought to herself. You've wanted to ask since you read about it, and she's the only one at school who knows. You can catch her alone as she goes to her office, or comes from it. No one else has to hear you ask, so stop delaying and just get on with it.
Despite trying to psyche herself up to the task, it took her nearly an hour to finally get to the griffin that marked the entrance to the Headmistress' office. After classes this part of the castle was pretty sparsely populated, but she still looked to make sure no one saw her. The last thing she needed was for someone to see she was having private meetings with teachers.
Once she was sure of her solitude, she sat next to the griffin, folding her legs under her, and opened the book on her lap, reading an entry in the book of no longer than a few pages over and over again as she waited for the Headmistress to arrive or depart her office.
