Professor of Astronomy at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Wand: Poplar and Unicorn Hair, 10 1/2 inches
Poplar Wand Wood: "If you seek integrity, search first among the poplars.”. It is said to be a wand to rely upon, known for its consistency, strength and controlled power, always happiest when working with a witch or wizard of clear moral vision. “There is a tired old joke among lesser wandmakers that no poplar wand has ever chosen a politician, but here they show their lamentable ignorance: two of the Ministry’s most accomplished Ministers for Magic, Eldritch Diggory and Evangeline Orpington, were the possessors of fine, Ollivander-made poplar wands."
Personality: Dendera is very regal and a bit materialistic but has a heart of gold. She is courageous and noble, concerned with public image and honor, she will not hesitate to do what's right and help those in need. Dendera is very much concerned with justice, especially concerning politics, she has a very black and white sense of what is right and wrong, with a strong moral compass. She radiates an air of effortless grace and charming beauty but there is much more than meets the eye. Dendera is a powerful duelist, a force to be reckoned with especially when angered or threatened, though she possesses a great deal of patience and compassion so it is very hard to ruffle her feathers but when you do you better run. She does not tolerate injustice and is not one to play favorites with her students. She can come off as a bit strict but so long as you behave you'll find that she can be quite lenient, understanding and sympathetic. In school Dendera held high marks, she was an intelligent and bright pupil and took a keen interest in Astronomy early on, thanks to her mother's influence as the previous Astronomy professor at Hogwarts, now happily retired. She was a bit unnoticeable and shy, her personality and self-confidence did not truly blossom until after puberty and upon graduation from Hogwarts where she truly found herself while attending an elite muggle university in America and studying in the field of Astronomy and Philosophy.
History: Dendera is the only daughter of Aurora and Malcolm Sinistra. Dendera was sorted into Slytherin house in the late nineties, though the sorting hat seriously considered her for both Ravenclaw and Gryffindor but due to her great potential and ambitious drive for learning it was decided that Slytherin house would help her on her journey to greatness. Surrounded by her ambitious, like-minded peers she thrived.
What She Loves: Dendera holds a passion for Astronomy, she lives and breathes her profession but also enjoys researching Divination, Astrology, and Greek Mythology. She stargazes in the evenings, a hobby she finds both fulfilling and relaxing and likes to unwind in her flat curled up with a good book and a glass of elf-made wine.
Family: Mother and Father, Aurora and Malcolm Sinistra.
Current Politics: The Sinistra family remained neutral during the war. Dendera was greatly relieved to see the Dark Lord's downfall. It gave her peace of mind that justice had been served in his demise and one less evil wizard roamed the earth.
RP Sample:
Dendera led her first year students at the stroke of midnight up the spiral, iron staircase of the Astronomy Tower to star gaze. Armed each with a telescope and star chart they set to work recognizing the names of difficult stars and tracking the planetary movements. Dendera was a night owl, she felt most alive and invigorated under a canopy of twinkling celestial bodies and a bright, waning moon. This was her passion, her purpose, her life's calling, offering young, eager Astronomers the gift of knowledge. She wondered each year, which of her students would go on to pursue the space science as a career and perhaps even take over her position one day when it was her time to retire and ascend into the heavens like the fiery stars she taught of.
