She always felt the most like herself when she sat up on one of the benches in the Astronomy Tower with her sketchbook on her lap and a charcoal pencil in her hand. Being there made Maddie relax and she felt like she could do anything sitting there, watching the sun fade behind the mountains that surround the grounds of the school. Sometimes she even brought her homework if she really needed to focus and couldn't seem to do that in the library - like the other night with that bloody Care of Magical Creatures essay that had gotten the better of her. Thankfully, she had Logan there to help her and she ended up acing the essay with his advice.
Logan. She hadn't been able to stop thinking about him since the last time she saw him in the library. They had exchanged small glances here and there but other than that, it was almost as if their encounter in the library hadn't existed -at least to other people. To Maddie, it had been one of the only things she could focus on. His blue eyes, his handsome face, the way her fingertips tingled after they came into contact with the back of his hand. It was as if she had memorized him in the short amount of time they'd spent together in the library a few nights ago. Was that a normal thing? She couldn't be sure.
She glanced back at her sketchpad that was balanced on her thighs, realizing that she had somehow begun drawing the outline of the Slytherin boy's body, incorporating it into the sketch that she had already drawn of the view from the balcony of the Tower. She stared at it for a moment before smiling, making sure to get the curve of his shoulders just right and shade in his dark hair. She was so wrapped up in perfecting the sketch of Logan that she hadn't heard the footsteps of somebody approaching.
