Draco took the floo network from his private quarters in the castle to Muggle London, stepping out of the hearth in the Leaky Cauldron, the entrance to Diagon Alley where he was to meet his wife at noon sharp for a lunch date. Draco had missed her company, longing for her warmth beside him at night, it was quite lonely once you grew accustomed to sleeping with somebody to suddenly cope with their absence. Overall Draco was feeling stressed, moody and glum. He absolutely hated his job with a burning passion but he needed the money less he blow through his inheritance and screw over his wife and family for nobody else would hire him at the moment, being a former Death Eater and well-known pureblood. He should be grateful to have been so generously offered a teaching post at Hogwarts but he couldn't help but still remain sulky about it, when he learned of the subject he'd be teaching. Draco knew next to nothing of muggles, other than what had been drilled incessantly into his head since birth, even before he could properly wipe the drool from his chin, that they were ignorant and inferior and Draco dreaded having to learn about them himself, making a forced, shallow effort to respect their culture and odd inventions, speak of them as if they were his equal. It was just as interesting to the middle-aged Malfoy as watching and waiting for grass to grow.
The blond strutted up to a cozy, two-person booth secluded near the dirty window, looking out upon smoggy, muggle London and plucked up the menu, deciding what he would have that afternoon, the bat wing stew sounded rather appetizing and after the week he'd been having he could definitely go for strong drink to take the edge off...
