Wand Wood Description:
Blackthorn, which is a very unusual wand wood, has the reputation of being best suited to a warrior type individual. This does not necessarily mean that its owner practises the Dark Arts; one finds blackthorn wands among the Aurors as well as among the prisoners of Azkaban. On an interesting note, it is a curious feature of the blackthorn bush, which sports wicked thorns, that it produces its sweetest berries after the hardest frosts, and the wands made from this wood appear to need to pass through some sort of great danger or hardship with their owners to become truly bonded. Given this condition, the blackthorn wand will become very loyal and faithful to its owner.

ABOUT THE CHARACTER

Appearance: Chocolate brown hair with hazel eyes. He's tall and has broad shoulders that he doesn't really like and olive-toned skin. Has been described as 'dreamy' by some girls from the muggle world.

Personality: Spencer is extremely smart and witty and is always eager to learn more about magic. He enjoys all of his classes at Hogwarts and never misses them. Younger years seem to look up to him because of his intelligence and placid personality. He's also very charming and has a really fun and outgoing personality when he is comfortable around someone. The problem is that it's incredibly hard for him to start trusting others. Because of his past, Spencer is very picky about who he lets in and it takes a while for him to put his faith in someone. Only his sister and his closest friends know about what happened to him when he was 8 and he doesn't openly discuss it with anybody.

Likes: Magic, Quidditch, hanging out with his friends and reading.

Dislikes: Rude people, people who have no respect for themselves or others, the dark.

History: Parents are both muggle lawyers who own their own law firm smack dab in the middle of the city. The Kane's had no knowledge of the Wizarding World until their son got his letter. Spencer and his sister were very fortunate growing up, being spoiled by their parents, although they didn't see them very often because of their long work hours. The Kane siblings spent most of their childhood with a nanny, only seeing their parents in the evening if they stayed up past their bedtimes. Mr and Mrs Kane loved their children but had a hard time showing it. As they grew up, Spencer started caring for his sister when their parents weren't home and they became extremely close. They were both considered weird in their schools and didn't really have any friends because of it. When Spencer got his Hogwarts letter, both parents were thoroughly surprised, but supported their son and his abilities (Spencer thinks it's because they really just wanted him out of their hair), they figured that it explained why he didn't fit in in the human world. His sister was jealous but two years later, she got her own letter and joined her brother at Hogwarts.

Favorite Classes: Divination, History of Magic, Defense Against the Dark Arts

Least Favorite Classes: Muggle Studies because he already knows so much about them.

Patronus: Going to Ollivander's and receiving his wand. For Spencer, all it took was the first try for his wand to choose him and it was the most exhilarating moment of his life. He'll never, ever forget it or how it made him feel.

Dementor: When Spencer was 8, he was molested by their family nanny that had been working for them for five years. Spencer went into almost a state of shock. His parents were furious with the nanny, reported her and fought to have her locked away in prison for what they had done to Spencer. James and Elizabeth had to take almost a year off from working to care for their son who had stopped talking completely and barely did anything for himself.

Boggart: The dark. Spencer is deathly afraid of the dark because of what happened when he was a child - it obviously happened in the dark of the night.
