The Day My Life Changed Forever

Mackenna had been sitting in her third period class, it was Potions, one of her favorites. She was brewing Draught of the Living Dead and it was coming along quite well, she expected to earn at least an Exceeds for it. Mackenna's dark hair was frizzy from the steam of the cauldron she was hovered over for the past thirty or so minutes, she was tired, evidence by the usual dark circles and light bags beneath her eyes but she worked through it. The Slytherin had insomnia, she had anxiety and depression and probably a whole list of other psychological disorders she had yet to stumble upon in her borrowed books from the library, all from having to deal with things life had handed to a girl far too young. It was simply too much weight to have been thrust upon her shoulders but she bore that weight as best she could, surviving, just getting by most of the time, hanging on by a thread...
Some days were better than others, this year was turning out to be one of the best thus far for the Slytherin outcast, that spooky girl many thought strange and a wee bit insane. Mackenna had made close friends this year, and one of those friends, Will Arlington had even become her boyfriend of recent, an impulsive decision, whimsical and rash which suited them. Mackenna liked madness, being reckless and impulsive, following your hearts desires, basking in your youthful glory. She was almost beginning to feel like a normal seventeen-year-old girl, where as years of stress had mentally aged her, she was far more mature than her peers, a lot more cynical as well but this term things had changed, looking brighter for the witch whom sour luck seemed to follow.
That was until that cold, November Monday, when everything changed for Mackenna, a day she will look back upon years from now and recall with vivid detail those last few moments of blissful ignorance before a steady rapping sounded upon Slughorn's classroom door and there in the threshold stood Headmistress @mcgonagall. This must have been rather serious for her to be there out of the blue and Mackenna recalls feeling mildly curious regarding her unexpected presence... This moment, this exact moment right here was where her entire world shifted forever...
