Isaac Theodore Nott
16 - December 7th, 2005 - Doesn't know he's gay, appears straight - Single - Pureblood
Wand: Blackthorn and Dragon Heartstring, 11 1/2 inches
Wand: Blackthorn and Dragon Heartstring, 11 1/2 inches
Blackthorn Wand Wood: Blackthorn, which is a very unusual wand wood, has the reputation of being best suited to a warrior type individual. This does not necessarily mean that its owner practises the Dark Arts; one finds blackthorn wands among the Aurors as well as among the prisoners of Azkaban. On an interesting note, it is a curious feature of the blackthorn bush, which sports wicked thorns, that it produces its sweetest berries after the hardest frosts, and the wands made from this wood appear to need to pass through some sort of great danger or hardship with their owners to become truly bonded. Given this condition, the blackthorn wand will become very loyal and faithful to its owner.
Appearance: Sandy, golden, blond hair like his mother's. Cerulean eyes, capable of being both piercing and sharp when angry and glistening with warm affection when gazing at someone he cares about. He has a healthy complexion from years of Quidditch and stands at 5'11 height. Dresses casual for a pureblood, his family isn't fairing well financially being that his grandfather was a Death Eater and both his parents purebloods, it's difficult for his father to find work to provide a lavish lifestyle for his family. He's inherited his mother's beauty, inheriting her blue eyes and golden, blond locks. He looks nothing of his lanky, weedy-built father as he's not very studious like Theodore. He would much rather being doing something physical like beating up on blokes who piss him off or letting out his pent-up anger through the gloriously violent sport of Quidditch. His best physical feature is everything really, he's rather fit and he knows it, able to charm women easily by playing the part of humble, good-guy eagle when need arises. Though, like his cousin Scorpius Malfoy he chose Ravenclaw for all the wrong reasons and is a Slytherin at heart, possessing determination and drive.
"No, you're trying to be smart, as usual." Isaac to his cousin Scorpius
History:Isaac was the first born to Theodore Nott and Daphne Greengrass, he inherited much of his grandfather's tendency to anger who lead a life as a Death Eater and murdered his young wife in a fit of rage when he suspected her of having an affair, something Theodore witnessed unbeknownst to his father. Isaac has only met his grandfather once as a boy and no one ever speaks of the former Death Eater now rotting away in Azkaban, especially his father who clams up and snaps harshly at the mention of the vile man. His mother's side of the family remained neutral during the war but found it hard to marry outside of the pureblood line. Being a former Slytherin nobody was willing to marry her other than other fellow former Slytherins. She found love, or rather an agreement in Theo, a pureblood with a tainted family line due to his father being one of the Dark Lord's first and most loyal followers. Their marriage is a business agreement, loveless and cold and sometimes Daphne expresses her discontent with having chosen to spend her life with him. She has no idea her husband is secretly gay and that this is the reason behind their limited intimate contact. Instead she takes his distance and aloof nature personally, being a beautiful witch she wonders what is wrong with her that her husband does not look at her with lust and merely treats her like a friend, on good days, and a foe on bad. Isaac has witnessed countless heated rows between his quiet, reserved father and outspoken, haughty mother, mostly Daphne sobbing and screaming her throat raw while Theo looks at her with indifference and retreats inside of himself, not speaking a word which fuels her anger and despair further. Isaac believes his mother is too good for his father, she deserves happiness but at the same time he views her as nagging, superficial and intolerable most of the time causing them to fight as well since they tend to disagree on everything seeing as Isaac does not see the point in dressing up and sitting stiff and proper for supper, still purchasing expensive robes they cannot afford in order to maintain appearances that they are fairing well, a foolish way for Daphne to impress her snobbish friends. Isaac prefers casual clothes and his mother throws a fit when she sees him sporting those 'hideous muggle rags'.
Isaac is protective over his two younger sisters and for the most part they get on well, especially him and the youngest, Posy, who's just too innocent and sweet to get angry at. Him and Rosalee on the other hand feud like normal siblings and although they act as if they cannot stand to be seen with each other they care about one another deeply. Due to their father being so distant and immersing himself in work so that he doesn't have to come home to an unhappy and unsatisfied wife, he wasn't around much while his children grew up and when he was he hardly spoke seeing as everytime he did it somehow set off their mother. Isaac was left as a father-figure to his sisters, comforting them at night when they were scared, teaching them to fly a broomstick, things a father should do. Rosalee even came to her brother when she started her 'cycle' to Isaac's horror and embarrassment, not knowing anything about that at the age of thirteen, he had to fetch their mother but deep down it touched him that she sought him out, trusted him enough not to mock her for soiling her clothes. Isaac shows his siblings a rare side of him, a good side that exists deep down.
Parents:Theodore Nott and Daphne (Greengrass) Nott
Siblings:Yes, two younger sisters @shealone who's a fourth year and Posy who's a second year.
Personality:Prone to anger and violent bursts of outrage, forward, adventure-seeking, he loves to be outdoors, especially on a broomstick. Isaac is arrogant at times, believing that he is better than others due to his pure bloodline, a prejudice instilled in him by his parents. He is capable of manipulation and charm, acting boyish to seduce girls or to appear innocent in front of professors. Isaac isn't exceptionally bright and does not value knowledge, only power and brute strength. He chose Ravenclaw for all the wrong reasons, his heart lies with Slytherin, though he does possess noble courage deep down, this side of him is repressed or his bravery shows itself through nerve, not afraid to instigate a fight. He has a mean streak and a dark side, the Dark Arts have always appealed to him.
He loves:His family, despite how dysfunctional his parents act. He's taken a keen interest in Potions like his father, who was a genius at it but doesn't share in his level of brilliance. It's the only class he gets an Outstanding in, otherwise his grades are slightly above average making him just as smart as most of his peers but not exceptional enough to be a Ravenclaw. Still he chose the eagle's nest to make his home due to the advantages it held on his resume after graduation. He needs to rebuild the tainted Nott name and achieve success that his parents could not reach due to the hostility and prejudice they faced after the war.
He hates: People who piss him off, unfortunately it doesn't take much to annoy him. Seeing his parents fight so often and inheriting his grandfather's mean streak has definitely influenced him, Isaac sees fighting as normal and actually seeks out conflict, feeling uncomfortable and empty when everyone's content and his life is at peace. He also hates that he cannot feel satisfied when snogging girls, no matter how many he tries out they never fulfill that hunger in him. (This is because he has no idea he's gay) He therefore believes that something is faulty with him that he's not attracted to anyone and has never experienced that warm, fuzzy feeling in his chest and tug in his abdomen that his mates speak about. He simply feels nothing.
Have they ever loved anyone in a romantic way?:No, he's snogged a few girls but has never felt anything meaningful towards them.
What's their most traumatic memory?:Visiting his grandfather in Azkaban. He was completely unhinged and had gone mad and violent just like the other filthy inmates residing there. The whole place was despicable, there he saw the worst of humanity both in the inmates and the guards, it's what he imagined hell to be like except this place is real...
What's their happiest memory?: When his uncle Draco taught him and Scorpius to ride a broom. He stepped in in place of his father, teaching Isaac something that traditionally father and sons usually bonded over. Isaac always adored his uncle growing up, deeply envious of Scorpius' normal, happy family. He always wished Draco was his father and he thinks the elder man senses this longing considering he's always had a soft spot for Isaac in particular, treating him just as good as his son, though he's kind to his nieces also it's not the same, he's definitely bonded more with Isaac and has shown favoritism with him. Which is remarkable considering they are not even related through blood, one would think he'd be close to Astoria, his aunt by blood and not this man who has only legal ties to him through marriage. It helps that his father and Draco were close mates in school.
Stranger's first impression of them?:It could go either way, either he's a foul git or he's so handsome and charming! They either despise him or adore him.
How would you, the writer, describe them?: A boy that, if raised in a better environment, could have been a good wizard, possessing traits of Gryffindor deep inside of him. Due to his childhood and the prejudices his family faces he's succumbed to this pressure to be this cold, heartless monster everyone assumes his kind to be. The Slytherin traits in him, his dark side, have become the dominant part of his personality. Deep down he craves love and affection, wanting to experience true desire for another.
Special skills:Good at brewing potions, talented at Quidditch, a good fighter due to his broad frame and taught muscles. He rarely loses a brawl, though he's had his arse kicked pretty badly before by upperclassmen when he was younger, foolishly instigating fights way out of his league.
