Jem fiddled with the Advil in his pocket, his foot tapping to some beat in his head. His hang over, which had been ghastly as an angered hippogriff when he woke had been reduced to a dull ache with a combination of muggle painkillers and black coffee. There was only so much chemicals could fix though, Jem was anxious, wondering if @anabel would be meeting him soon. The two had met at a party the night prior and well . . . hit it off to put things simply. There was something in Anabel Jem was attracted to, something so characteristic of her that even in his wrecked state last night he had been able to see it. Of course it had helped she was rather fit as well, but Jem told himself that wasn't the point. She had been kind and fun and just what Jem needed right now. He didn't get the impression from Anabel that she was looking for a relationship and well Jem wasn't either. They were just hanging out today. You had said date, a voice in his head reminded him and Jem rolled his eyes. Maybe they were doing a little more than just hanging out but that was mainly what they would be doing. If she let him kiss her later on, then Jem would think about more when it came to that.
"Why are you nervous?" Jem asked himself when he realized he was tapping as well. He stilled his hands and and partially groaned when his brother Joeseph sat down across from him.
"Now's not a good time Joeseph." Jem said quietly. Joeseph looked at him with a quirked eye brow silently assesing him.
"You look shitty Jem." Joeseph replied taking a sip of his brother's coffee and a piece of bacon off the Hufflepuff's bacon. Identical dark eyes met, Jem's uncharacteristically hard and Joeseph's amused.
"A girl? Not Mackenna right?" Joeseph asked a smirk pulling at his lips.
"No not Mackenna. She's just a mate." Jem said with a roll of his eyes. Joeseph's face fell into one of intense judgment.
"So this one's more that a friend?" Joeseph pressed a bit of disbelief working in his voice. Jem really hadn't had a girl he took seriously since his breakup with Selene sixth year. All the girls Jem had slept with since had been 'just mates'. Anabel was different.
"Not yet." Jem said quietly moving his coffee back to his side of the table.
"But you want her to be, don't you?" Joeseph stated, knowing his brother to well to make it a question. Jem moved to take a sip of coffee, not responding but he couldn't help the grin that tried to pull at his lips.
"Get lost Joeseph." Jem said affectionately. Joeseph chuckled but rose to move back to Slytherin table and his own girlfriend.
"Talk to you later Jem." Joeseph called. Jem saluted him and resumed his waiting forcing himself not to fret to much.
