The swell of students pushing through the corridor as Noxienia made her way downstairs was much larger than is usually was. The bell signaling the end of classes for the day and the beginning of dinner had just rung, and thus, the hungry masses swelled, surging their way through the castle in the direction of the much desired Great Hall’s bounties of deliciousness. The little Hufflepuff was not the least bit pleased about any of this though. She kept getting bumped and jostled about by most of the taller students, which she was used to on a fairly regular basis, but she didn’t enjoy it. It was difficult for her, all the noise and movement swirling around her, overwhelming her sensors and sending her brain into a state of buzzing annoyance. It was similar to having a hive of bees flying all around your head while trying to speak a foreign language and juggle torches. Thus, Nox did what she normally did when she started getting too much sensory input.
Pushing her way through the crowd, Nox found the nearest broom closest and tugged the door open quickly. After making a quick assessment that there was not a couple of students snogging each other’s brains out inside of it, she climbed inside, closing the door and moving to hide in one of the dark little corners, sitting down on an upturned bucket. The darkness was a bit spooky, but light shone through the cracks in the door, illuminating the little cupboard just enough to keep her from getting scared. With all of the noise and activity of the hallway now muffled, the badger was able to breathe. She rested her head back against the wall, pondering over what she had for homework, and fully prepared to wait out the rushing tide outside. Once it returned to a trickle, then she’d be able to get out and either head down in the direction of the Hufflepuff Common room, or maybe seek out her best mate for a calm stroll along the grounds.
Thinking about it, Nox twisted the thin bracelet on her wrist, feeling it and enjoying the cool metal against her skin. She had taken to doing that a good bit lately, the ridges on the single maple leaf that sat upon the bracelet soothing when she ran her finger over it.
