”M’not though.” Ember shook her head with a sigh. She held tight onto Sophia, watching at the other girl took care of her rather unseemly stomach contents from the grass and their clothes. Well, at least no one else would know she was upset enough to do that. Her throat stung from the stomach acid, her mouth tasting of bile, but there was nothing to be done about that right now. She had some sweets in her pocket… Maybe once they got to the hut she could clear out her mouth, but right now… Nothing mattered. None of this, not Morgan or his friends, or the way her mouth tasted. All she could really think about, was her poor lost broom and what an idiot she must look to be crying over something so… silly. A broom was a broom, easily replaceable, and yet, not to her.
The Gryffindor paused, bending down to pick up the biggest piece left of her broomstick, the very end of the handle. It was smooth, recently polished, golden letters worn out, but still mostly visible. She clutched it tightly in one hand before she wrapped both arms around Sophia, resting her head down on the other girl’s shoulder as they kept walking. The hut wasn’t too far from the pitch at all, just a bit down the slope, closer to the forest.
When they arrived at it, the door opened easily, left remarkably unlocked, as though it had been waiting for them. The hut was dusty and unused, but not unpleasant. Someone had taken the time to throw sheets over the furniture at least. The very very large furniture. ”I heard the last guy here was part giant.” Ember stated, trying to keep her mind off of the turmoil inside her heart.
