”Aye, love.” Ember nodded, grinning and bonking her forehead slightly against the Hufflepuff’s as Sophia remembered that, there was indeed, a promise to be made. She liked watching the thought process flickering across Sophia’s face. The confusion, and then the slight widening of her eyes whenever she came to the proper conclusion, making those sweet orbs seem to pop more out of the Hufflepuff’s face than they already did. Ember found it impossibly endearing… Or maybe she was just so quite fond of Sophia’s eyes in the first place and enjoyed seeing them flit through so many different things all at once. Her favorite so far though, was when they were partly green and sparkling with happiness. The Gryffindor was not entirely sure what this slightly awkward, and yet fantastically attractive girl was doing to her, but she liked it. She liked it a lot.
Reaching up her hand, Ember took Sophia’s pinky in her own scarred one. It had stopped bleeding from when she’d broken it open again on her key’s teeth, but the dried blood was still there. ”You don’t need to apologize for something you can’t control, at least, not yet. I dunno why your brain does that, but when it does, I’ll try to help you work through it, alright? That’s my side of the promise. I, Ember Astrid Stonefyre, swear I shall always protect, love, and cherish Sophia I-Don’t-Know-Your-Middle-Name Black, with every ounce of my being until there comes such a time in which I am incapable of doing so through severe illness, injury, or death. Unless it is death, once that time passes, I shall promptly resume my duty without fault or folly, for this is such the utter honest promise of eternal friendship.” Ember vowed, her voice firm as she stared right on into Sophia’s eyes, her own hardened with absolute seriouness.
