Ember watched as Eveleen changed, an old habit she had never quite grown out of, especially as no one in her dorm bothered with trying to keep themselves covered when switching clothes and she found it fascinating how Eveleen managed it. She had tried to glimpse little bits and pieces of her best mate over the years and had long since given up that game, partly because she knew Eveleen was shy and partly because losing all the time was no fun. Ember, on the other hand, lifted her shirt up far enough to uncover her stomach, tapping at it before she used two fingers to push on either side of her belly button, squishing it absentmindedly. This too, was as normal as Eveleen's wardrobe change as soon a they got back to the dorm. She hadn't done it with Sophia around, but with Eveleen? Well, Ember tended to lose most of her sense of any class she might possibly possess. That was the nicest thing about Eveleen's bed. They could just chill. No expectations, no drama, just simple being together. Even if it did smell kind of like boy more so lately.
The Gryffindor sighed as Eveleen joined her in bed laying, just staring upwards at the gorgeous plethora of photos and pictures that decorated the Ravenclaw's bed. The collection had grown quite a lot over the years, pretty soon things would have to be switched out to make room for newer ones, or Eveleen was going to have to hang more strings. It made Ember chuckle, thinking about how Duane must feel when he laid here, with eyes all staring down at him. She didn't know the boy well, had barely ever spoken to him more than to threaten him against harming her dear Eveleen, but she could imagine if might be a little bit awkward having so many eyes watching you when you were trying to cuddle with your girlfriend.
A girlfriend... The word alone made Ember's stomach flutter and feel nauseous all at the same time. She had never had one of those, but, lately, she had seriously considered it, if not for there being only one flaw to the idea of it. Why did she always grow attracted to the straight ones?
"Aye." Ember agreed, knowing that Sophia would probably, very much in fact, love it if Eveleen used her magic hands to paint an even better version of the photo the three girls had taken together. It was the only one of all of them so far, but there were sure to be more in the future, especially once the weather was better for being outside all the time. Staring up at Sophia's face had Ember's heart pumping a little bit faster than she would have liked, though it didn't show on her face. Even in a picture the Hufflepuff was pretty... Like, super mega gorgeous pretty in a way Ember could almost not stand because it gave her thoughts she should not be having about one of her friends, especially one as fragile as Sophia could be sometimes.
Rolling over onto her side, Ember broke eye contact with the picture and proper herself up on one else. She tugged the white paper bag from her pocket and set it down on the bed between her and Eveleen, the usual place for all of their snacks to go. She dug one hand into the bag and pulled out an extra fudgey chocoball filled with more chocolate that she knew was one of her mate's favorites. "Here, in honor of your most noble and heroic of deeds, Lady Eveleen of Brixton."
The Gryffindor grinned, holding the sweet between two fingers, but the smile didn't really reach her eyes right now. She had become distracted by the picture of Sophia and her thoughts, and several photos of her with Nimbus that hung on other parts of the bed. She frowned, gazing at Eveleen contemplatively. Talking. Sophia had said talking was good and showed strength instead of weakness... Feelings. Eveleen had said she was allowed to feel the bad things as well as the good, that it made them human. So Ember opened her mouth, trying now. If she couldn't talk to Eveleen about it, who could she? "What's it like, dating someone longer than a couple weeks?"
