For example, when paired with dragon heartstring, chestnut wands may find their best match among those who are fond of luxury and materialistic. Interesting fact, “the three successive heads of the Wizengamot have possessed chestnut and unicorn wands, for this combination shows a predilection for those concerned with all manner of justice.




Appearance: Melanie has beautiful honey blonde hair which she almost always wears down. Her eyes are a blue-grey color, which on her come off surprisingly warm. She's got the same pale skin her parents do. Melanie, much like her other siblings, doesn't resemble either her mum or dad very closely. All of the Wood children take after one another, but you can't see either of their parents' dark hair. Melanie prefers to wear nothing more than jeans and t-shirts. Occasionally she can be seen in a casual skirt.

Personality: Melanie is a strong and independent young girl. She carries a look of innocence, and in many way she is, but she isn't to be underestimated. She's incredibly competitive and will do anything to achieve her goals as long as it doesn't hurt other people. Melanie is extremely good at arguing her point and knows exactly how to defend herself and her beliefs. She's incredibly honest, and expects the same honesty in return. This leads her to speaking before she thinks and often times going too far in arguments and debates. She's very argumentative and can make a debate out of the simplest of conversations. At times she can be a little rude, though she means well.

Favorite Subjects: Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions

Least Favorite Subjects: Herbology, History of Magic

What He/She Loves: Dogs, rock music, hiking, sunrises, flying. Melanie developed her parents' love for quiddtich, though she's complete crap at playing it.

What He/She Hates: How bad she is at Quidditch, eating meat, long essays

History: Melanie was an unexpected child. So near to the birth of her brother they hadn't been trying, nevertheless excitement came over the Wood household with the expectation of a new baby. Melanie grew up on the Quidditch field. Her father had recently been promoted from coaching the reserve team and her mother was offered a position only a few months after Melanie was born. She, along with Drew and Meredith, was the team's biggest fan. They'd play on their toy brooms as the team practiced above them.

When she was nearly four her mother and father announced they were expecting a fourth child and soon enough Margaret joined their family. By the time she was ten the youngest of the bunch, Maisy, had joined them and both Meredith and Drew had gone off to Hogwarts.

The day she turned eleven Melanie received her letter to Hogwarts. She was filled with excitement to finally attend the magical school. Once there, much to her own shock, she was sorted into Slytherin. For the first few months she was at school she resented herself for being sorted into the house of the serpent. It wasn't until she returned home for the holidays that she finally accepted it. At home, she joined her parents once again on the Quidditch pitch. Severl of the players for Puddlemere had been Slytherin and the three of them banded together and managed to get it through her head that not every Slytherin was a dark wizard. She returned to school that January with a new perspective and plenty of excitement.

In her second year she tried out for the Quidditch team, though unfortunately her hand-eye coordination was so horrible she was denied a spot on the team. This caused her a great deal of shame and it was something she never really recovered from. Though a talented flyer, she prefers nobody watch her.

Despite her rough start at Hogwarts, as Melanie grew she turned into a talented young witch. She soon began to learn exactly why she was sorted into Slytherin and she loved it. She developed her strong and opinionative mouth and large sense of self-confidence.
