Wand Wood Description:

"Less common than the standard walnut wand, that of black walnut seeks a master of good intuition and powerful insight. Black walnut is a very handsome wood but difficult to master. It has one pronounced quirk, which is that it is abnormally attuned to inner conflict, and loses power dramatically if its possessor practices any form of self-deception, whether lying to others or themselves. Placed with a sincere, self-aware and true owner, it will become one of the most loyal and impressive wands of all, with a particular flair in all kinds of charmwork.

Appearance:

Lysander is a great mix between his father and mother. His hair is blond, but not brilliantly so. His eyes are very blue, almost like the deep autumn sky and his skin tends to be more tanned due to having spent a good deal of time outdoors on a regular basis. Lysander is quite tall for his age and still growing rapidly.

Lysander prefers to stick to cooler colors, mostly blues and greys. He usually goes simple with just a pair of jeans and a grey t-shirt, but adds a black jacket on top in cooler weather. He tends to go bare footed as much as possible, but when he’s required to wear them, he puts on a pair of black boots. His token piece is a bracelet made out of strange orange radish shaped things and butterbeer corks on his left wrist. He never takes it off.

Personality:

Lysander can be a little bit… awkward. He will jabber on and on about anything and everything if he’s known you long enough, but will go dead quiet if he’s never met you before. He tends to stick close to those he does know and is very physically affectionate with them. Once a bond of friendship has been established though, he is incredibly loyal, bright, and goofy, bouncing from one subject to the next without much of a break in between unless you remind him to slow down. He is incredibly smart, but this part of him is usually overlooked due to his sunny disposition and occasionally childish demeanor. Lysander is very intuitive when it comes to animals. He can often be found, just sitting off to the side someplace, having a full conversation with his beloved pet rat, Lucien. Underneath his bed is usually piled with library books long past due and his observation journals, absolutely bursting with information and well done sketches, all about creatures or different cultures. Also, muffin wrappers. Everywhere.

Lysander can be a little overbearing without meaning to. He tends to get a little too clingy at times or hugs on too tightly simply because he is very much a cuddler. He has trouble controlling this aspect of himself, simply due to always having only really been close to people who don’t seem to mind it. He needs to touch, being extremely tactile to the point where he doesn’t wear shoes, wanting to feet the ground beneath his feet. He may or may not also have this fascination with trying to recreate ‘the womb’ with his twin brother, but it’s most likely just an odd way of asking to be cuddled when he is feeling exceptionally affectionate or lonesome. He’s bad at being by himself, very much always needing some kind of contact, whether creature or human, but he prefers human in the long run of things. He can get exceptionally broody if left to his own devices for too long and struggles to deal with unhappy feelings. He tends to hide them from everyone but Lorcan and occasionally Lily depending on if he thinks she can handle it or not. He’s quite empathetic, feeding off others emotions much more easily than most people do, and thus, usually ends up harboring the same emotions.

What He Loves:

Creatures, being outdoors, adventuring through forests, exploring other countries and environments, watching hummingbirds (he finds the way they move particularly fascinating), cuddling, hugging, stroking fur/his friend’s heads, giving piggy-back rides, his friends, his rat, his brother, muffins (especially banana-nut), observing things, sketching, dressing Lucien up, and a good conversation.

What He Hates:

Close-mindedness, judgmental people, having his parents called ‘loons’, when his friends are hurting or anxious, being alone, when people call his rat ‘vermin’, the nervousness that comes with meeting new people, feeling different even though he knows it’s a good thing, and needles.

History:

Lysander grew up traveling a lot with his family. They went many different places and were exposed to a lot of different cultures throughout the years. They did a lot of searching for unique creatures who most would say are just made up or folklore to the region. Lysander loved it and now has a particular fondness for creatures, especially the rarer or supposedly imaginary ones. He’s gotten into more than one argument about Nargles over the years in particular. After all, even if you can’t see something, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. He now tends to prefer to spend his time outdoors rather than inside, though you can sometimes find the odd rat or strange bug lingering around the school.
