STUDENT APPLICATION
NAME : Freyannalynn Persephone Burke
AGE : 16
BIRTHDAY : June 15, 2006
ORIENTATION : Unconfimed
RELATIONSHIP STATUS : Single until Daddy picks a proper husband.
BLOOD STATUS : Pureblood
What color are their eyes, hair, and skin? :
Freyannalynn has long flowing blond hair that falls neatly at all times in perfect waves, usually with the front pulled to the back of her head and kept there by whatever overly-heavy, glittering large hair clip matches her outfit for the day. If it is for some reason left all the way down, it is probably impossibly sunny out and she’s been required to done a large wide-brimmed hat. Her skin is quite pale, never having really been properly exposed to the sun, causing her odd blue-green eyes to stand out all the more from her face.
How do they dress? :
Freya’s wardrobe consists of nothing but the finest of dress robes and dresses that have an air of the Victorian era with their flowing skirts, occasionally high collars, and long sleeves possibly ending in a flare of frills. Everything is decked out with lace, real gems, and pearls with no concern for how heavy it might end up being so long as it looks impossibly pretty draped over a body already wearing layers of under clothes beneath it. Freya is never allowed to wear colors out of season either. Spring and summer are strictly for pastels, autumn is for warm shades, winter for the cooler ones. There are always tights, and classic button boots that have to be done up with a special hooked tool. Freya is also required to wear at least three items of jewelry at all times unless she’s sleeping, but she usually forgoes the more extravagant pieces in her collection for a silver heart locket, and whatever bracelet and earrings her house elf has deemed worthy for the day.
Do they like the way they look? :
As someone who has had every little flaw in her appearance scrutinized in excruciating detail, Freya isn’t all that fond of seeing herself in the mirror. Plenty of people call her beautiful, but her own mother is determined that her daughter be flawless at all times, thus triggering a vast amount of self doubt. If she was pretty enough on her own, she wouldn’t have to be dressed up in all these extravagant clothes… right?
Height? :
5’0 on the dot.
Do they resemble any family member? :
Freya takes after her mother, which is probably why the woman is her biggest critic.
What is their best physical feature? :
Aside from basically everything… Probably her eyes. They’re the most colorful bit about her considering she’d usually stuck wearing white on top of her already impossibly colorless self.
What is their most flawed physical feature? :
There is a small gap between her two upper front teeth. It’s not very big but it’s noticeable when she actually smiles and makes her quite good at whistling.
Where are they from? :
The Burke family actually lives just outside of London on a large patch of land that is supposedly ‘uninhabited’ strictly on the sense that a mile beyond the wall that surrounds the entirety of the manor and inner grounds Muggle repelling spells have been cast and are frequently strengthened by manor security. Otherwise, it looks like a bit of wood and a long winding road to a large wrought iron gate that is always kept locked. The inner grounds are all gardens, beautifully kept, flowers and pathways, trees and fountains and even a large labyrinth that is fairly easy to navigate if one has figured out the pattern of turns. The house itself is huge and stone, boasting an entryway fit for a castle and two ballrooms just on the first floor.
Describe their past history :
Bartholomew Burke always wanted a son and ended up with a daughter instead. Freyannalynn’s birth was quite the disappointment to be honest. Shortly after Freya was born, her mother took ill and it was advised by the family’s own personal Healer that they should not try again for anymore children, for going through labor again might kill the delicate Elizabeth, at least until she was well again. However, Elizabeth has only continued to go downhill, spending most of her days in bed, persistently ringing a bell and shouting for the help to bring her things. She still keeps up her weekly visits for tea with the ladies and does her best to attend all of the important social functions throughout the year, all while making sure her daughter is as impeccable as possible.
Freya had a fairly strained childhood, learning early that making mistakes was not acceptable in her household. She was to stay clean at all times, walk and never run, even when outside, and only speak when spoken to thus becoming the absolute picture of grace and beauty that her mother has tried to hone her into. Despite doing her very best, Freya has failed so far, at least, in her parents’ eyes she has. Ladies don’t accidentally slouch at the dinner table because their clothes are too heavy. Ladies keep their voices soft unless speaking to the help in which case they must be commanding, not weak like Freya is with her personal house elf. By the time she was six, Freya had learned to stand straight and keep quiet, a perfect little wallflower of a child to be admired by all of her parents’ friends when they came for a party or formal dinner to celebrate someone’s engagement or marriage or whatever happenings were going on among the most elite of the wizarding families. When she was seven, Freyannalynn was allowed to join her mother for her weekly tea party with the ladies and finally got her first proper tutor. The basics of reading and writing and maths were introduced to the child, later than most. Music lessons upon the harp and violin shortly followed as well as painting and drawing, however, Freya was good at none of these. Her violin still sounds squeaky, her pictures resembling something a young child might create, and she is absolute shit at math. However, she took well to ball room dancing and singing, able to stay on pitch and follow a beat. By the time she hit eleven and her Hogwarts letter came, Freya was as properly prepared for being sent out to socialize on her own among peers her age, or so her parents thought, for they had forgone one of the very most important lessons of all…. People.
Now, Freya knew how to behave at social events, but she had never been properly exposed to children her own age or had the chance to make friends. She did get to spend occasional little bits with her only cousin, who, while very nice and around Freya’s age, was also not allowed to behave anything less than a lady, thus making it impossible to get to know her properly. Upon entering school, Freya did the same as she had always done. She kept quiet and off to the side, not entirely sure how to react when her peers spoke to her. She found the interactions overwhelming, but did persist, trying her very hardest to say the right things and did manage to make a couple of friends before going home for winter break with a rather bad cold. She was kept in bed for an entire week.
Upon seeing her daughter’s illness and becoming worried that Freya had been exposed to too much too quickly, Elizabeth had a very serious discussion with Bartholomew. After a few days of deliberation, they decided to withdraw Freya from school and continue to educate her at home instead. The news came as a serious blow to the eleven year old, but what was she to do? There was no going against her parents’ wishes. She stayed at home, now allowed beyond the walls of the inner gardens, always copiously coated with sunscreen to keep her skin perfect, keeping up with her former classmates by tutor instead and gradually growing more and more depressed over the state of her life. She’d had a taste of what the world was like beyond the manor… and she longs desperately for it again.
Who are their parents :
Bartholomew Burke
Elizabeth Burke (nee’ Prewett)
Do they have any siblings? :
Nope.
Is their any history of mental illness in their family? :
Not that they’d admit to.
-PERSONAL INFORMATION-
What do they love? :
Wind, being up high, daydreaming, getting away with having bare feet when her house elf pretends not to notice, spending copious amounts of time both outdoors and in the library, singing, dancing, being alone for once, school (real school, not being tutored), running, hiding out in the kitchen, people her own age despite not fully understanding how to interact with them, and sweets.
What do they hate? :
Being constantly followed, walking, social events, standing up straight, her clothes (especially her boots and corsets), never getting to speak her mind, having to be constantly aware of if her actions are proper for a lady, the tea ladies with all of their useless gossip, having no one to properly interact with aside from adults, the garden walls, winter (she’s trapped inside all the time almost), her tutors, sunscreen, parasols, and her mother’s illness.
Have they ever loved anyone in a romantic way? :
No.
What's their most traumatic memory? :
When Freya was four, she embarrassed both of her parents by accidentally wetting her pants at a very important dinner given in honor of a foreign ambassador. Having tried to ask permission to go and been told that children should stay quiet. She hadn’t been able to hold it any longer right before the ambassador scooped her up in order to proclaim what a precious little thing she was. He had been nice about it, and she was swept away by her house elf, not to return to the party. Later that evening, after she was supposed to be sleeping, she wandered from her room in order to find her parents, feeling like she should explain what had happened. She knew her mother was probably quite angry about the incident. She came across them arguing, her father very adamantly blaming Elizabeth for the fact that he had no son and instead, had been saddled with a daughter who had embarrassed him an incredible amount despite her young age. He went as far as to say he wished Freya had never been born, because perhaps them Elizabeth wouldn’t always be so ill most of the time and they could have maybe tried and had a son instead. Freya put herself back to bed and cried herself to sleep, vowing she’d be a good girl and try to make her Daddy love her again.
What's their happiest memory? :
Boarding the Hogwarts Express for the first time, despite also being incredibly frightening, was so impossibly exciting for Freya. She had never so much as gone beyond the wall around the manor and here she was in London! Getting on a train! To go away to a school where there were other people her own age and she might actually be able to make some friends.
Describe their personality :
Freya is a fairly gentle soul with a great burning desire for more out of life than she currently has. She tends to be quite quiet, having been conditioned into it over the years by her parents, thus also creating a slight barrier when it comes to interacting with others verbally as she’s always only really been able to speak when spoken to. Not knowing what to say has led her to be a bit shy, her nerves usually getting the better of her. While her exterior is calm and poised at all times, hidden inside lives a rather quirky girl with a sense of humor just waiting to come out. On the very rare occasion that Freya manages to elude her constant house elf companion, Freya is tends to be full of boundless bouts of energy, stripping off her boots and frolicking through the least frequented gardens where no one will see her. When she can’t go out, she likes to spend her time in the library, usually at night after every one else is asleep, sitting upside down in chairs with her night gown riding up and a book held high above her head, reading about all sorts of different things though, none of it ever includes Muggles, for her parents are the sort who are not very fond of non magical people.
Freyannalynn also tends to be a little bit of a space cadet, daydreaming when she’s supposed to be studying or gazing out into nowhere for long periods of time. She likes to make up stories in her head, thinking about what it could be like, should she ever be allowed out into the world again. She’s been known to sit for hours, eyes glazed over, just dreaming and having to have her name stated several times over to regain her attention. It can be a littler bit creepy though, when she randomly breaks out laughing over seemingly nothing.
Describe their personality flaws :
Despite having access to so many pretty things and never having to worry about taking care of herself, Freya is actually vastly unhappy with her life. She longs desperately for something more and tends to fall into bouts of numbness where she appears to be daydreaming, but is actually just too done with everything to even think anymore. Having been spoiled most of her life, Freya also struggles with being told ‘no’ about most things, having only properly been denied something she’s wanted several times in her life: to not be followed around by a house elf, to go back to proper school, and to wear more modern clothing. But her slightly outrageous wishes, such as a pony, when she was still small, were always granted fairly quickly, her mother not able to bear seeing her child wanting for anything even if she does put a lot of pressure on her. The girl also lacks several skills a lot of people take for granted, like knowing how to tie a bow or do her own hair having always had such things done for her.
What would a stranger's first impression of them be? :
A delicate doll of a girl, very old fashioned.
Any special magical abilities? :
Freya is particularly adept at Charms.
Any special skills? :
She’s a lovely singer and can dance pretty well so long as it’s classical.
