Wand Wood Description:
Willow:
Known for its healing power, the ideal owner for a willow wand often has some deep-rotted insecurity that the may try to hide. This wand is known for being a handsome wand, good with non-verbal magic. This wand prefers an own with unseen potential rather than someone who believes they know it all and have nothing else to learn. “It has always been a proverb in the Ollivander family that he who has furthest to travel will go fastest with willow."
Appearance:
Aito isn’t exactly pale, but he wouldn’t count as being tanned either, he’s more somewhere in-between to be honest. His dark brown hair is cut short enough to stay out of his face, but then it does this weird thing where it stands up all spiky without him even trying to get it that way. Lesser of two evils. His eyes are an odd mix between brown and green, giving them a kind of olive-like hue, especially when out in the sun.
Aito usually wears whatever’s comfortable. Jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and regular old street shoes make up the majority of his wardrobe. Most things were also picked out by his mother and are therefore typically nature-toned: blues, greens, and browns. He could easily do it himself, but she enjoys it, so he humors her.
Personality:
Aito is first and foremost, compassionate. He is a giver of everything from hugs to sweets to a shoulder to cry on even if he doesn’t know you. He’s the kind of boy who is strong willed on the outside, but gentle and easily breakable on the inside should you cut the right thread. His world revolves mostly around wanting to do well enough in life that he can really help his mother out instead of just getting part time jobs over the summer breaks. He works hard, doing the best he can on his school work and trying not to flake off as tempting as it may be at times. He is very much a Muggleborn, using his own two hands to get things done before pulling out his wand when he can. Most of Aito’s affection also stems from his hands, a trait directly learned from his mother. He prefers touch over words, knowing a good pat on the back can be just as good as any ‘Well done!’ and even better when combined. This tends to make him quite cuddly, despite being so tall.
Due to his good-natured attitude, Aito tends to be non-judgmental, preferring to accept people as they come. His emotions don’t get displayed easily unless they’re on the bright side. He smiles and loves easily, ready to talk about anyone’s problems but his own. He likes to have a good laugh, but not at the expense of others and he’s not usually the one making the jokes.
Aito struggles to express his emotions in a healthy manner. He tends to bottle up any bad feelings he had in spite of always being taught to share them. As he is so naturally kind, it makes it easy for people to use him, even if he’s paying attention and notices. This stems from an inner self-doubt that he’ll never actually be good enough for most things and should just take things as they come. He’s not very good at accepting compliments, not feeling deserving of them. He also usually ends up thinking of others first and himself last, which leads to stress when trying to get things done that he needs to do but not wanting to upset anyone in the process by denying them what they desire. He has extreme guilt issues when anyone is mad at him. He can also be quite clingy or overly-loyal which makes him easily dislikable as most people don’t like that. He has a bit of a social phobia in which he struggles to make friends, but when he does, he sticks by them like superglue until they, usually, discard him, most likely due to the aforementioned clinginess.
What He/She Loves:
Hugs, cuddling, petting, hand-holding, basically anything that involves affectionate physical contact with another human being. Wrestling, green tea, rice balls, manga, almost anything Japanese, reading, doing well in school, being with his mum, spending time outdoors, pocky, being with his friends, and napping.
What He/She Hates:
Being away from his mother for extended periods of time, having to do homework, when he runs out of green tea, that absolutely dire moment when he thinks he’s out of pocky but really isn’t, because he never runs out of that, forgotten onigiri, being alone for extended periods of time, people thinking he’s annoying, a lack of cuddles, and anything gooey between his toes.
History:
Aito was born to his very single mother, Delilah Bellamy a short seven and a half months after she’d had a run in with an old school mate whose name Aito has never been told despite having asked a few times before learning it was better to just let it go. Having come into the world undercooked and fatherless, Aito caused a lot of strife for his mother in the first few years of his life. Looking at him now though, you’d never know he’d been a sickly little thing, for which Delilah is incredibly grateful. He is the brightest spot in her life. No, seriously. She literally named him ‘darling child, large light’ and in Japanese no less, which, knowing her, isn’t that far-fetched.
Growing up, Aito didn’t have much aside from the few necessary things his mother struggled to provide for him. By the time he was four and shooting up quickly, Aito had learned how to lie through his teeth, things about how his shoes weren’t too tight and no, Mama, he didn’t need any more, he was full. Shortly before he hit six though, his clothes started growing with him, a strange phenomenon that had his mother taking him to the doctor to make sure he wasn’t shrinking. He made it through primary school with the same exact clothes he’d started with. Now, of course, they both know it was just underage magic.
Despite not having much in their little apartment, Aito and his mother did have her old childhood friend who Aito calls Aunt Tanya. Like his mother, Aunt Tanya is obsessed with pretty much everything Japanese. Aito was raised drinking copious amounts of green tea and eating the odd foreign foods his aunt would bring around which seems completely normal now, though, when compared to most of the kids he grew up around, they weren’t. He has probably read more manga and seen more anime than anyone else in his entire neighborhood. He was also the only child sent off to school carrying a carefully packed bento containing rice balls. To be honest, he loves it just about as much as his mother and much prefers eating at home to the meals they serve at school.
When Aito was about eight, he went through a rebellious phase. The other boys at school were picking on him for not having a father and still calling his mother ‘Mama’. He became quite distant and cold towards his mother, refusing to even hug her good-bye when she dropped him off at the school gate. He fought against her, saying he wasn’t a baby who needed to be taken to school when all of his friends walked together. He would say all sorts of terrible things to her, even that he hated her for various things. Not making sure he had a father like most of the other kids. For not having a good enough job. For treating him like a little kid. So, Delilah had to let go a little bit. She allowed him to walk to school on his own so long as he stayed in a group with the rest of the kids. However, that only quelled the storm for a little while before it built back up against. At that point, Aunt Tanya stepped in and taught Aito about the word ‘sacrifice.’ As in ‘Do you have any idea how much your mother has given up in order to give you the best life she can?’ Those weren’t the sort of words one normally spoke to a young child, but Aito was different, and after thinking about it, long and hard, because it took a lot to anger Aunt Tanya, he stopped being so rude to his mother.
Aito got his Hogwarts letter the very day he turned eleven, a bit later into the summer than most kids due to his August birthday. It came in the hands of Professor Longbottom who managed to convince both Aito and Delilah that first, no this was not a hoax, and second, yes, her son would be perfectly safe at the school. Having had his sights set on entering the public high school that coming school year, Aito was both a bit nervous and excited about actually being able to go away for the rest of his schooling. And in magic no less! He didn’t really have many close friends, so he wouldn’t be missing anyone too much if he went. His mother was not nearly as thrilled by the idea of her son being so far from reach and the only contact possibly by sending letters with owls, however, it was a better opportunity for him. After much begging on Aito’s part, Delilah finally caved. It had taken a lot of extra work shifts and help from Aunt Tanya and the school to get all of his supplies even secondhand, but they managed it. Now several years later, Aito, nor his mother, regret the decision.
Provided he writes her every couple days, of course.
