((OOC: I made the thread in the forbidden forest because I imagine the bulk of the thread will happen here, but I'm starting right outside the great hall.))
Jem didn't know who else to turn to. When he had told his close friends, a tight knit group of guys from Hufflepuff about what he had found in the woods and what he wanted to do with it, they were unbelieving and laughed at him, thinking it was a prank. They thought they were being clever by denying Jem, but in fact, this was a very real situation. So obviously, the next option would be to ask his brothers, right. Jacob laughed like the other boys, but believed Jem. He just laughed because he couldn't believe how stupid Jem was to do this all over again, and at school no less. Joeseph had down right refused. The last time Jem had done this, Joeseph got the brunt of it, being attacked by the blasted creature then hauled off on it's back by Jem. This left Jem with his final option, Mackenna.
Mackenna and Jem were quickly becoming best friends, at least in Jem;s eyes. He found himself seeking her out for things more and more, help with homework, advice, to hang out, and now to assist him with ridiculously dangerous tasks. Of course people had asked Jem what was going on between them, but Jem brushed it off, Mackenna had a boyfriend, and Jem thought of her only as a friend. He would have never asked a girl he would later on try to snog to do something as stupid as what he was about to ask Mackenna to do with him.
Jem waited after class had ended for the day by the entrance to the main hall. His transfiguration class was the closest class to the great hall, so he knew she would be arriving later than he. Jem hoped Will wasn't with her, not because he didn't like the fellow, granted he seemed nice enough but Jem didn't know him, and what if the boy convinced Mackenna not to go with him. Jem knew he would if his girlfriend was approached by some behemoth of a man with the intent of taking her into the forbidden forest to complete some dangerous task.
Finally Jem saw her tall figure approach, her head of messy dark logs signaling it indeed was the esteemed Mackenna Radley. Jem caught her arm before she could walk into the hall and pulled her away from the flow of students.
"Will you tame a hippogrif with me tonight?" He asked in a hushed voice, dark eyes boring into her lighter ones.
Mackenna Radley
