Aito smiled, gently tucking the small plastic bento that held several aluminum foil wrapped rice balls into his well organized bag. His books were stacked side by side, his textbooks first, then his spiral-bound notebooks quickly followed by three volumes of manga and all of his snacks. His quills were kept in a metal pencil tin with his pens and placed into a separate pocket beside his ink bottles in this plastic baggy to keep them from spilling everywhere should they break by accident. He had learned that particular lesson the hard way in his first year and still mourned the loss of several beautiful books. Satisfied that everything was in it’s proper place, Aito flipped the top of his bag shut and did up the buckles before swinging the strap over his head and leaving the kitchen. He was technically supposed to head to the Great Hall to meet Alkawari for breakfast, or rather, he assumed so considering she had said something about having breakfast together last night before she had taken his voice away by placing his hand against her neck. Aito still wasn’t sure what that had been about, but he could clearly remember the way the girl’s face had gained a little extra color before she’d then taken off quite quickly. By the time Aito had regained his voice, packed up his things, and raced out into the hallway, she’d disappeared.
The Slytherin had then spent a bit of time in the kitchens, working on making some rice balls for the next morning, having promised Alkawari so that she could try them. Vegetable, she’d said. So, with a little bit of help from his new acquaintance, Axel, Aito had done so, making both plain and vegetable onigiri. Now, if there was one thing Aito loved, it was sharing food, so he was actually quite excited at the moment. He hoped Alkawari liked the rice balls, although, he would understand if she didn’t. They weren’t for everyone. He was sure her palate was a bit different from his and the rest of the school’s, considering she had grown up so far away and probably had a preference for different food. Then again, she did like pizza…
Despite the fact that the girl had tackled him backwards in his chair, thus resulting in injuring his head and kissing him in order to ‘claim’ him, Aito was actually quite looking forward to seeing Alkawari again. First off, the girl was unpredictable and mysterious. He was never exactly sure how she was going to react, constantly surprised. Secondly, she was actually quite interesting to converse with, having grown up in a way so vastly different from Aito that he found her point of view on life and social interactions both curious and a bit alarming. Third, and lastly, Alkawari was, admittedly, not bad on the eyes. Like any other straight fifteen year old boy, Aito appreciated such things, enjoying spending part of his days just admiring the ladies, but in a way that was more reverent than perverted. The Slytherin had been raised to always, first and foremost, respect other people, especially girls.
Making his way across the Entrance Hall, Aito peered into the Great Hall. It was still fairly early though, so it wasn’t very crowded yet and, upon further inspection, the boy was able to see that the Gryffindor he sought was not in there just yet. Turning heel, Aito headed up the main stairs, thinking, perhaps, he would run into Alkawari on his way up, and if not, he could wait outside the Gryffindor Common Room until she came out. As he reached the fourth floor though, he became slightly distracted by a group of people down at the end of the corridor. Aito’s stomach knotted suddenly and his brow furrowed, as a slight feeling of dread filled him. Whatever was going on over there wasn’t something good… He could ignore it of course, but something tugged at him, propelling his feet forward, off of the stair well and in the direction of the group.
