Eden sat on the floor of the common room, legs scooped beneath her, staring into the flames of the fire. She had been in that position for the last hour, and her patience was beginning to wear thin. The Hufflepuff had arrived back at Hogwarts from Christmas break a few days previously, as her parents arranged to visit relatives in the topmost point of Scotland, Eden had decided to return early. In hindsight, that had been a mistake as the majority of her house had gone home for the holidays. She'd wandered the halls alone, chatted to teachers she normally avoided, and spent so much time in the library she may as well be a Ravenclaw. The girl was sure she would go insane if she remained alone much longer.
Which was why she had been waiting patiently for the last several hours, only moving to switch position. Some of the students were due back that day, although she had no clue which ones. Maddie hadn't owled her to let Eden know, most likely enjoying the thought of surprising her friend. However, it wasn't just Maddie, there were plenty of others Eden knew that she would have been perfectly happy to see. At this point, she'd be excited to see the ones she didn't much care for as long as it meant company.
She sighed and ran her hands through her red hair, wondering whether or not to give up completely. However, at that moment the entrance swung open, and Eden tensed, bursting with anticipation. Please let it be someone I like," she thought to herself.
