Queen of the Gobstones...

Matt shook himself mentally, trying to clear his head. As soon as Lysander had picked up Lily, his vision of possibility went double. Quite literally, he saw the same futures, overlapping, twisting together...he'd never seen two people whose fates were so intertwinded. Always three of them, Lily and the twins, in and out of each other's fates...but no indication which twin was the one Lily would marry. All three fates, for as he watched them he saw Lorcan's as well...his head started to hurt...it was too much information, he couldn't process it all.
In desperation, he ignored the muffin, afraid to speak as he was sure he might scream in pain if he opened his mouth. He picked up his Snapper, and focused on the game. Instantly, his mind was filled with the angles and shots he could take, processing quickly that an ideally placed shot would knock out 4 of Lily's stones. That is, if he could manage it. The possibilities of the game dispelled the visions of the future, at least temporarily.
He lined up his shot, much more carefully this time. Too much power would cause two of his own stones to leave the board as well, and he couldn't afford that this time. Too little, and he'd just embarrass himself with no stones at all knocked out. He concentrated, taking his time, not shooting until he was sure all the causality aligned...
He shot, but it was less than perfect. Instead of the four he ideally could have knocked out, he hit one of his own stones, which knocked out only two of Lily's. One immediately flew to set next to Matt's knee, while the other rose up and spit at Lily.
Matt kept focused on the game, but he knew his lack of response would be telling. Risking another flash of pain, he looked up at Lysander and Lily.
"I'd love a muffin. Thank you, Lysander. So far, I've found that Lily is really nice, to be honest."
That was all he could manage, as the three intertwining fates took over his head again.
