Awkward Company

Logan felt like a thirteen year old girl. He'd been stressing all day about seeing Maddie that evening. They'd been spending a lot of time together lately. A few days ago she'd approached him and asked if he'd like to go to dinner with her and a couple of friends. Logan had heard some about Eden Crane from Maddie, and @jason was well known around the school, but he'd never really spoken to either. If it had been anybody but Maddie asking he would have automatically said no, but the younger Hufflepuff had him wrapped around her finger.

This being said, he wasn't exactly sure what this outing was. He didn't know if he was simply performing a favor for a friend, or if it was a date. He hoped it was the latter, he'd wanted to ask Maddie out for awhile now, but could never think of the right way to.

As Logan spotted Maddie he adjusted the jacket he was wearing. He wasn't sure what the plans for that evening so underneath it he'd put on a simple plaid button down. He was ashamed to admit that it had taken him awhile to settle on his outfit. He was nervous. It could very well be considered his and Maddie's first date.

She looked perfect. Her long hair falling down her back as it usually did. Logan approached her, his hands stuffed in his pockets. As she spotted him he gave her a grin. "Hey Madeline." his tone was teasing as he used her full name. He liked her name. Maddie was a great nickname, but Madeline suited her.

Maddie's smile was a combination of giddiness and relief as she spotted Logan walking into the courtyard. He was dressed simple, just some trousers and a jacket that was only zipped halfway and underneath it she could see the plaid shirt he had on, knowing that the pattern would suit him perfectly. As he approached, her heart sped up and she bounced on her toes slightly, her anxiousness getting the better of her. She tucked her hair behind her ear in order to hide her blush when he greeted her with her full name. The only other person who ever called her Madeline was her grandmother but she made the name sound foul and ugly as she spat it out, while it seemed to flow so freely and naturally from Logan's lips that she could have sworn he'd been calling her by her given name her whole life.

"Hey," she said and couldn't resist reaching out to touch him in someway. It hadn't been long since they last saw each other but in her eyes it had been too long, so she fingered the fold of the collar of his shirt. "I like this," she told him and felt like a child with her vague compliment but it was the truth. The color of the shirt really brought out his blue orbs, almost making them sparkle in the evening sun. "I'm so glad you came. I'm not sure how this whole date thing would go if I have to be the third wheel." She giggled and then dropped her hand from his collar, only to revert it to his hand which she took hold of softly and intertwined their fingers together. She loved holding his hand, it seemed to mold to her own perfectly.

It was after he had replied that she spotted a head of red hair near the entrance to the courtyard and she saw Eden approaching them. She reluctantly let go of Logan's warm hand so that she could hug her friend. "Eden, hi!" Maddie greeted happily. "I'm so glad you're coming," she repeated to her because she was glad, she was glad they were all with her now. She let go of the redhead and stepped in between her and the Slytherin boy. "Eden, this is Logan Cadwell. Logan, meet Eden Crane," she said with a wide and hopeful smile. She was praying that this worked out and didn't become one big disaster.

Maddie was glowing, clearly the Slytherins presence was bringing out the best in her. Logan greeted her politely and Eden hugged her friend before releasing her to return to the boy. "So you're Logan," she countered and grinned at him. He seemed relaxed and easy going, just like Maddie. "I wonder where Jason is," she sighed and glanced over her shoulder towards the castle. He wasn't normally late, and she didn't want him to make a bad first impression.

The Hufflepuff had a sinking feeling that they may not mesh well with her Ravenclaw boyfriend. He was a little more uptight and impressive, and although she had been flattered he wanted to spend time with her, the others may not be. However, she wouldn't know until she attempted to get them all together. Eden turned back to Logan and Maddie, arms crossed over her chest to keep herself warm. "How are you two, anyway?"

Eden looked tense and Maddie definitely understood why. She hoped that she wasn't forcing the girl into doing anything she didn't want to do, although she was quite aware that Eden would have told her so if that were the case. Maddie figured it was just because of what she had suggested about James that was making Eden nervous about seeing Jason. Either way, Maddie was determined to help her friend.

"I've been pretty good, actually," Maddie said and couldn't help glancing at Logan who stood beside her, a small smirk playing on her face. They had joined their hands again and she squeezed it knowingly. It was true, she was good, being around the Slytherin had made her life much more interesting. And becoming friends with Eden had given her someone to talk to about it. She was better than good, she was great and she was happy.

The three of them talked for a few more minutes, getting lost in their conversation that they hadn't noticed the blonde Ravenclaw approaching them until he introduced himself. He sounded so proper and intelligent and it almost intimidated Maddie but she made sure to keep her head straight. Keeping hold of Logan's hand, she reached her free one out politely to greet him. "Hey, I'm Maddie," she said, smiling at him. "Eden's told me a lot about you," her eyes flickered to the redhead and she smirked before looking back at the blonde boy standing in front of her.
