Muggle Studies

Scorpius sauntered confidently into his father's class which Draco had unfortunately forced him to take in order to help lighten the tainted Malfoy name. Draco's logic being that if a Malfoy took and taught Muggle Studies than perhaps the dark, pureblood family was reformed after all. Or at least that was the message Draco was trying to send to the wizarding community. The young Malfoy heir didn't look in the least pleased to be taking the barmy course, even if his father was the professor and would likely pass him no matter what. Regardless it was a waste of valuable time seeing as Scorpius felt he had much better things he ought to be doing than to learn about muggles and their peculiar customs. It served him zero purpose considering he had all intents and purposes of residing right here in the wizarding world when he grew up and obtaining a magical career, specifically in the Ministry of Magic if he was lucky.

Scorpius' cool, gray eyes glanced up at the seating chart, pleased to be sitting directly beside his cousin @shealone, but felt a peculiar, warm feeling rise in the pit of his abdomen when he saw who was seated to his right on the other side of the narrow isle, Rose Weasley. He quickly grew paranoid and wondered if his observant father had spotted them together at some point, perhaps when he had healed her scraped knee in the court yard the other day or maybe he'd caught word of their play performance in History of Magic. A dry lump grew in the eagle's throat as he purposely avoided eye contact with his father and slid anxiously into his assigned seat, busying himself with working on his Charms homework until class began. 'I need to stay away from her, whatever infatuation you have with her needs to end now, before things get even more complicated and people begin catching on that you're... interested in her...' He told himself, a frown pulling down on his lips, his fair features cold and severe.

Duane entered the classroom, one of the first to arrive and not spotting his girlfriend Eveleen Swan, for which he was taking the course for in order to learn more about her world, being that she was a muggleborn witch. Muggle culture both deeply fascinated and confused him, so the Slytherin was pretty eager to learn as much as he could absorb, though with such a passionate professor like Malfoy teaching it he doubted he'd learn anything useful... Duane thought dryly.

The ebony-haired outcast took his assigned seat in the middle, right-side of the classroom against the bare, stone wall and gazed around absentmindedly while waiting for Eveleen, who luckily sat right in front of him. He noticed that the classroom resembled the spare one they'd snogged in on Halloween, causing a dull flush to tint his pale cheeks at the heated memory. It seemed Professor Malfoy was so unenthusiastic about his job that it carried over into the decorating of the space. There was literally nothing present to indicate that this was a classroom where they'd learn all about muggles, no aeroplanes, no posters of a bustling, muggle London street, no gadgets, gizzmos or strange toys. The room was cold, harsh and bare, reflecting the demeanor of the former Death Eater looming before them, gazing at them each with frosty indifference as if inwardly judging each of them for taking the course that he so clearly thought foolish. Duane nearly scoffed at the observation since unlike the former Slytherin he found it useful for wizards and witches to learn of the muggles, seeing as both worlds interacted so much and half of the magical population was muggleborn, with those numbers quickly esculating. There was no more room in this new world for outdated traditionalists like Draco Malfoy, society was changing, evolving for the better and learning from the mistakes of past wizarding history. People like Malfoy would fall behind.

Rose entered the classroom. Rose was looking forward to Muggle Studies, but she was not excited about the professor. In fact, Draco Malfoy teaching the subject had caused her father to attempt to persuade her away from the class. It was Hermione who had encouraged Rose to still take part in it.

A quick survey over the classroom revealed a seating chart on the board. Rose glanced over it, her eyes interpreting the room in comparison to the chart. Relief spread through her as she saw Albus Potter's name to the right of her. Her eyes swept to the right. She bit her lip, forcing the growing emotion away.

Scorpius Malfoy was nothing like she'd expected. The fact that he had helped her after her nasty fall meant more to her than she cared to admit. Her mind flashed back to their presentation in History of Magic. Rose couldn't quite explain whatever it was she was feeling, she only knew that it grew with the thought of their...exchange in class.

Rose moved towards her seat, giving Dominique Weasley a quick smile and a wave. She pulled out parchment and a quill, absent-mindedly doodling all over it, her eyes not even daring to glance over to Scorpius with his father sitting right there, though they desperately wanted to.

Joeseph tried his best not to stalk into class, he was not all to pleased to be taking Muggle Studdies. His normally cold, firm face was trained into one of indifference, spare a moment where he greeted his professor and mate's father with a polite smile. Despite growing up involved in both first class muggle and wizarding society, at the insistence of his squib mother, Joeseph had no interest at all in the muggle world. He kept possibly beneficial contacts and that was it. The only reason Joeseph was even here sat in the back row, his older brother Jem.

To be frank, the eldest Scarbore was piss at school, unlike Joeseph and Jill who, despite detesting each other, were the smartest of the six Scarbore children. Joeseph was going to see his brother through this and help him improve his grades. It would be strenuous, as things often were with Jem, but he was Joeseph's brother, therefor his responsibility. 

At least Scorpius is in this class, Joeseph told himself noting on the seating chart that the Ravenclaw sat diagonal from himself but then he noted with slight irritation the Weasley that was to his right. Joeseph didn't have anything against the Wealey's in particular it was just, well they were a bit annoying to Joeseph. He knew Jem was best mates with a Potter, thus the rest of the rowdy family, but their noise and bluntness, and often times outright silliness rubbed Joespeh the wrong way.

This Weasley in particular, Dominique Weasley, was especially annoying to Joeseph. They were in the same year and due to that Joeseph had become accustom to the girl's insistent questions and boastful answers. Though Joeseph was intelligent and didn't mind showing off once in a while, he found the tawny haired raven to be an absolutely insufferable know-it-all.
