Anything for the Alcohol

Kaiden heaved a sigh as he flopped down on the stairs that led up to the Gryffindor boys’ dormitories, hidden up high enough in the shadows that he wasn’t going to be easily seen by anyone just walking by the stairs. Even if anyone came up them though, he wasn’t likely to be noticed. No one ever really paid much attention to the dark haired fifth year, the air of his presence typically causing people to skirt around him as quickly as possible, which was, thankfully, exactly how he preferred it. There were no words to be exchanged, no inquiring eyes, or, god forbid, smiles and jokes in a blatant attempt to pull him out of whatever state he seemed to be permanently stuck in. Normally the Gryffindor wouldn’t have even been lingering on the stairs. He would have been off somewhere much more quiet, a more deserted part of the castle, with his guitar. It was about the only thing that kept him sane, that guitar. And yet, he had stored it away in the dorm for tonight, safely in it’s case beneath his bed. Something else had peaked his interest tonight…
There was a group of students sitting bunched up in the common room, discussing party plans for later that evening. Most of them were fifth years and above, the ones usually most responsible for throwing the insane parties Gryffindor house was known for. They couldn’t do it all of the time, but about once a month or so, someone always managed to plan some kind of good time that wasn’t directly correlated to winning a Quidditch match, which was what most of their other parties were always about. Honestly, the house would think up any excuse for music, rowdiness, and of course, drinking. Now that, was why there was a boy lurking on the stairs. Not for any particular interest in the party or what the plans for it were, no. All Kaiden was interested in was the booze.
Kaiden couldn’t exactly hear everything the group was saying, most of their voices kept lower due to there currently being a Prefect in the common room who was known for being a tattle-tale, but he caught enough to get the gist of what was going on. The time had been set for right after it was time for the tattle-tale Prefect’s rounds of walking the castle. They would be fine, the other Prefects from Gryffindor… Well, half of them were involved into the part discussion. Alright assholes, let’s get to the fucking important part already. Who’s getting the drinks and when? Kaiden thought, groaning in his head as he waited for these impudent jerk-wads to get to the only part of the plan he cared about. It had been too long since the last time he’d been able to get a hold of any kind of alcohol aside from Butterbeer and his brain needed a good numbing.
