Kaiden shoved on a shoe, tugging it up over his foot and tying it tightly as a toddler wailed near his side. He had been given the task that morning of checking diapers and carting those who needed a change into the nursery to be handed off to whatever adult had been tasked with the gruesome job today. However, the Gryffindor really needed to get going now. His first day at his new summer job started at nine and he would need at least half an hour to get there considering it was a good few neighborhoods over. Thankfully, he'd somehow managed to procure an old bicycle from down the street, replaced the chain, and would probably be able to make it to work on time so long as he could find his other damn shoe.
Rising from the floor, the sixteen year old swiped the bawling little boy from the floor and half-ran, half-hobbled, his one shoed self down the hallway to the nursery where he deposited the tyke into the arms of a woman who looked like she could seriously use a strong cup of tea. Returning to the hallway, Kaiden shoved open the sliding closet doors and began to dig through the debris of so many small shoes on the bottom of it. Why in the hell they had to take them off first thing in the door and store them all together instead of in an easy to locate place, say, like under their beds, was beyond Kaiden. The boy jumped, as his shoes flew through the air and whacked him quite soundly against the head.
"Fucking hell, Olivia." The Gryffindor swore, not even having to look deeper into the depths of the closet to know it was likely a pale faced little wisp of a girl who had chucked his shoe at him. He grabbed up his shoe and pulled the doors shut again before tugging the damn thing onto his foot. "I'm going to work!" He called out to no one in particular.
"Back by curfew, Evers!"
Kaiden rolled his eyes and made a run for it, pressing out the front door and into the much quieter, or so it seemed, world. He strode down the walk-way, unlocked his bike from the fence where he'd left it, and brought it through the gate before mounting it.
The ride to Spinner's record store didn't take as long as Kaiden had anticipated, having only walked it before. He arrived early, just as the owner was unlocking the front door. The shop didn't technically open until ten, but someone had to make sure it was properly clean before customers started coming in. Last year, Kaiden had been stuck working at a deli counter, so he was actually quite looking forward to spending some time in a place that he could feel a passion towards. Music in general was Kaiden's refuge when he wasn't able to be drunk. The fact that Spinner's also specialized in vintage guitars was like icing on a already delicious cake.
After locking up his bike and greeting the owner, Kaiden was then sent to an office in the back of the shop to fill out a few basic employment forms and wait for the co-worker who was to be training him. It was kind of stupid actually, having to be trained to something as simple as stacking records and CDs, though, he probably would need a bit of help getting used to the till.
